    Fonts are fonts. I use Windows fonts in Linux. They look great. Big deal.


    But they are rendered in different quality. I switch between linux and windows with a KVM-switch, and here is a font AA and blurred, and there is a font AA and crisp.

    It's not the font, it is probably Freetype.

    Funny thing is, several of the censored links points to sucker-sites, where all you can get is a dialer. This disconnect your line to your provider, than re-establish a pricy connect to download something (maybe really kazaa-lite, have not tested).

    They can't and won't kill Netscape.

    MS discontinued IE on Mac, which means AOL _needs_ Gecko for future versions of their client. They can not integrate Safari due to licensing stuff (namely GPL). This is worth some real AOL-money for the netscape developers.

    And it must be pretty to have gecko on Windows to apply pressure on MS. Although I don't know how much money this Ace is worth ...

    Most people I know don't like Caldera (SCO) these days. So do I. But everytime I boot Linux I see that parts of it are contributed by Caldera. So, thanks to their former engagement they get advertising for free. Isn't this a (partly) return of investment?

    But think of the consequences ... if it were BSD, not Linux, we would eventually/probably see a proprietory, closed IBM-BSD. Thanks to the Hype on Linux, and thanks to GPL, all their engineering, programming, knowledge flows (back ?) to the community. Both prosper: The ride the hype, we get the code. With BSD, chances are that we would get nothing.

    Look over to apple: Sure there is Darwin (because it has been there before OS X), but there is no free aqua, no free drivers, ... (to be continued).

    So, let's be happy that it's Linux, and not BSD.

    Too sad, as I need a running server, I cannot test a development kernel. As I don't (can't) follow the 2.5-development: Any guesses on when a 2.6.0 will see the light? 2003 or 2005?

    It's not just the PIM, its the groupware-functionality. While there are some "workarounds" from Bynary and Ximian (are there others?), there is no free group calendaring.

    Please enlighten me, as I am not a coder: Why is it so hard to let some PIMs exchange scheduling infomation through e-mail? In my childish imagination its looking quite "easydoesit" (remember jumpman? :)

    Or am I just blind and you already can coordinate your apppointments through Evolution, KDEPIM, Aethera? If so, how?

    It becomes good, if one can use MOL remotely via X11. Is this possible? If so, what about the mac-fonts, how are they shown on a remote display?
