Yeah, you read TFA alright, as well as the other Slashdot stories that have already covered Google Ad Words.

IT'S NOT THE SEARCH ENGINE RESULTS!!!

When you search for an item, Ad Words on the page can be bought relating to the input. What Louis Vuitton is saying is that it is not Google's right to sell the Ad Words to the Louis Vuitton trademark, which is correct. Google does not own the trademark Louis Vuitton and therefore cannot legally sell the rights to it, which is what they were doing.

People used to buy a PC for home because that's what they had at work. Great! I can do work from home and not have to go to work so much, only people found out that they started having more work to do because the boss realised they could do work at home and not have to pay them for it.

What people use at work is disintegrating. Most actual applications at work now are custom made and cannot be taken home. Word and Excel are the only exceptions and I would say that very few people actually would know the real difference between MS Office and and OO.o if you told them it was just a different version of Office.

People want their computers at home for web, pictures, movies, music. Areas where Microsoft has never had any strengths. Their only strength is they make things difficult for anyone but administrators and that's what corporations want. Corporations do not want an easy to use computer in front of their employees because they will use it and not do "work".

There's a reason why Apple is selling more Macs and there are more customised Linux distributions than ever. If you read the hard numbers (meaning actual unit sales) the PC market has stagnated, so it's not because people are buying more computers.

FairPlay limits filesharing, it doesn't prevent it. Computers just have to be on a local network and they can listen to all your music whenever you want. I forget how many as Apple has INCREASED the number of people you can share with since they came out with FairPlay.

You can also burn any iTunes track to CD. Only limit is you can only burn 5 copies of a playlist before you have to change the songs in the playlist. Which means if you or your friend spring for the cost of a CD, you can share any song you like, as many times as you like, with whomever you like, just like other physical media.

I think that's a super middle-ground. Steve Jobs has discussed MANY times that DRM will be cracked, but FairPlay is pretty good. Apple puts a sticker on all their iPods that says, "Please don't steal music." Please point me to a better approach to DRM or filesharing scheme. Yes, DRM sucks, but it's not going anywhere if you want to use downloaded RIAA music.
