    The only reason I knew is because my sister-in-law is Finnish. :-) On a side note, one way to almost instantly enrage a Finn is to speak well of the Russians. Throughout it's history Finland has been treated despicably by Russia.

    Now that I think about it, isn't Linus Torvalds part of the ethnic Swedish minority in Finland? Does that qualify him as Scandinavian, even if Finland is not?

    Continental Europe uses litres for beer. In Europe only the UK and Ireland still use pints, having been granted an exception by the EU as it is a "cultural" thing. I'm Irish myself and think that's bullshit, but there you go.

    A) The definition states that this so-called word originated from American dialectical speech, and the "word" itself is obviously incorrect.

    B) I'm not American. I was referring to the English language, not some ugly dialect.

    C) I regard the Oxford English Dictionary as the definitive dictionary.

    D) The so-called word is not defined in the O.E.D.

    In 5 years of developing server-side apps using Java and web containers I've never encountered one of these bugs, with deployments to Mac OS X, Windows (many flavours), Solaris and AIX as the targets.

    Wow, you really don't have a clue. Fascism != Communism != Socialism. Who resisted the rise of fascism in Italy the most? The communists. As for your description of majority rule as being "oppressive"... that's democracy. That a majority can elect a capitalist regime is no different to a majority electing a socialist regime. Would you describe the former as oppressive too?

    History is full of great bloodshed when socialists have little inside squabbles (Hitler and Stalin, Vietnam and Cambodia, China and USSR).
    History is full of great bloodshed when capitalism gets angry (Vietnam, Iraq rounds one and two, Grenada, most of latin America at one point or another). What's your point?
