Well... there was supposed to be this amazing game that touted Windows and XBox compatibility under the Windows Live brand. Unfortunately it didn't get good ratings.
To make things worse the project lead of the game went on air to complain about how low a review score his game got.
That game of course was Shadowrun.
What a way to launch an on-line service. Make the customers pay too much for something that should be for free... and then bitch and moan when customers are too smart to fall for it.
Why should I get out of the IT business? I don't make my money out of selling software but by charging hourly rates to write software for clients. Open Source will only lead to more possibilities and more work.
Because software will more reliable and easier to get means that it will be used more and thus more clients will need my services.
Why not stream the radio real-time to the players while they're playing GTA4?
That would be amazing. Have an in-game radio station run by real people somewhere which you can call any time. The XBOX360 is perfect for that (headset).
IANAL but AFAIK when you write a piece of code and GPL it, you're basically the owner of the code but you grant the person who downloads it to use and redistribute it.
Is it possible to revoke Novell's right to distribute a GNU/Linux distribution?
Assume, for a minute, that the owners of all the GNU/Linux public code decide that Novell should not be able to redistribute their code... What consequences would that have?
I'm a casual Ubuntu user and when you try to do something in Ubuntu you have to do "sudo blablabla". You fill in your password once and it doesn't ask you again until you open another terminal. In the user-interface you have to fill in your password for any action you do on screen.
But... what if Windows users got accustomed to PowerShell and decided to do everything from the command line. What happens then? I haven't tested it to see what happens but what if an ubuntu-like solution could be built into PowerShell?

I still chuckle at the irony that Bush & Co were self-righteously proclaiming that Saddam secretly was developing WMD's and then all of a sudden they turn around and announce "Hey everybody! Check out our new weapon! It's the MOTHER of ALL BOMBS!!!"
I wonder. Is it easy to create custom controls with ASP.NET AJAX? At the moment we're working on a ASP.NET 2.0 based web application. One of the demands of the project is that it's completely AJAX driven. We're researching to see if we can make our own custom controls using JSON. The Javascript makes calls to the server-side code which returns HTML in a string.
I looked through the source-code of the Ajax Control Toolkit. The source looks clean - Microsoft seems to have hidden all the complex JSON stuff. But I wonder if it's easy to pick up and run with....

What a terrible article title! It does not even come close to explaining what it's about.
A much better title would be: "Silicon Knights sues Epic" or something.

Why not?

Linus owns Linux. Doesn't he?

Just wondering...

... to congratulate Miguel and his team for this remarkable achievement!
Gives an insight into what Open Source is capable of.
Y
That's what I was wondering about. I believe it's called "Managed C++"
Y
Great. Does this mean that there's a Microsoft tax on the laptops now?
Y
Didn't they, like, build a whole bunch of those cars?
I thought there was more than one.
Y
Agreed. Delphi 7 rocks.
Yours truly,
A disgruntled Delphi 8 purchaser.
Y
Another desperate attempt by Borland/Codegear to appease their dwindling developer community.
Delphi is dead. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Y
That's why kids... we have Open Source projects like Linux and Open Office.

I'm surprised I haven't seen that slogan posted yet.

So am I going to be able to get the sources from somewhere and build Java from scratch?
How is this going to work?

Good riddance.
