I second that! The big reason why my wife won't use Linux (even though she prefers it over Windows) is that she can't sync her phone with Linux. If I can get a Linux based phone that can sync with Evolution/Thunderbird/WhateverBasedOnLinux then that would be great!
The reason why Thief 3 didn't have large open levels had to do with the memory limitation of the original xbox. It couldn't handle large levels in de Unreal Engine, so the devs had to compromise and make the levels small.
AFAIK the xbox 360/PS3 (or whatever new machine the new thief is going to run on) can handle large levels so...
I checked out the vids. A lot of those so called "glitches" are caused by mods or bugs in mods.
The Oblivion glitches are obviously mods. The glitch in shown in GTA:SA is done while the unofficial multiplayer mod is running.
So the argument "best game developers leave a dirty glitch" does not hold water. Actually the headline should read "best game developers let fans create hilarious video's using mod tools".
I checked them out yesterday and they're all shit. If any of them got aired on the mainstream media then I'm wiping my Ubuntu partition and installing Vista

Reading the thread in MSDN I can see that customers are being urged to use X-Plane:
I am also interested in knowing how long ESP will be available because my company used it for a solution and invested time and money into getting it approved and purchased. Microsoft sure handed us a raw deal for taking a gamble on their platform. It sounds like X-Plane is the way to go from now on. This is the last time I gamble a product's success on Microsoft. Every gaming studio Microsoft touches seems to sink like the Bismarck.

The X-Plane site itself is offering deals for the abandoned ESP customers:
I've played the closed beta on and off for about a week. Didn't enjoy it much because I don't have the dexterity of a 12 year old on speed, so basically I got my ass handed back to me, live.
It has a skill matching system, but I basically ignored it and went for the gametypes I liked. So I guess that explains the scorch marks across my gamer ego;-)
Nah it was fun and well executed.
The only major problem I have with quake live is the "tutorial". It's really annoying and extremely patronizing. I sometimes think that Id *really* have lost touch with gaming reality as we know it. I think id employees need to take a sabbatical and play games because sometimes I shake my head. Wait till you fire up the tutorial and you'll know what I mean. It's so annoying that they're going to lose advertising revenue over it.
Combined with Microsoft Team Server (sold seperately) this creates the ideal Development Environment for all ISV's delivering Value to all of their clients with an effective Time To Market with Application Lifecycle Management.
It's the ideal solution for Developers, Developers, Developers.

Great.
Just what we need.
A way to create an unlimited amount of distros.
As if Linux doesn't have enough fragmentation problems already.
I really really don't see any need for this. This screams SOLUTION LOOKING FOR A PROBLEM to me.

Yeah. I still have Castle Master somewhere on a floppy.
Wow. They sure went out of their way to fake the moon landing. I bet the source-code is fake too :-P

So, basically, like an IPO.

Yeah. I'm pretty important. Mark Shuttleworth should bow down to the greatness of my 0.000000000001% market share.

I like the comment "X-Plane 9 (temporarily $39.00 to let in all the new MS users)."

I wonder if Craig Charles has dealt with his serious drug problem
Slashdotted already. Should give an indication of how desperate /. ers are for a new FOSS FPS.
I'm sure Phoronix will come up with one, otherwise you can download the benchmark and try it our for yourself.
Any there any knowledgable slashdotters out there that care to speculate on what Steve's condition might be?
Is it me or does the wallpaper look like it's a pre-historic finger painting of a freaky bony creature with a gaping mouth and an open skull.
No, I'm not stoned, depressed or on medication.

Dear Morgan,

What's that in European? I can't calculate in US Dollars...

This is great news!
Microsoft has been using one for quite some time now:

Q: What does XNA stand for?
A: XNA's Not Acronymed
Let me guess... they're going to offer it for free/at a reduced price in exchange for giving up all your privacy.
