$6 for download access to everything a particular band has ever created for 1 year. Make the band come up with all this stuff so you can advertise it.
mp3s of all album songs, live music, and studio outakes
album art and alternitive art.
interview tracks
zipped.iso images of whole albums ready to burn
Video clips of live gigs, music videos, flash cartoons, poster sized.jpegs.
When the next album comes out, raise the price a $1.50 for a year of access to everything. Eventually when your band eclipses Led Zepplin (many price increments), you should offer one price access to everything, and individual album download/purchases.
When we have a good album together my band is planning somthing like this.
Unfortunatly the.sig space is too small for the whole process.
Start building crappy wonder -> discover internets (Internet wonder) -> obsolete hollywood wonder (no more +1 happiness) -> Turn down production for more entertainers -> convert crapy wonder project to Internet wonder project -> build "the Internet" (+2 science) -> raise production again -> convert some scientists in big cities into entertainers to appease angry cities.
Personally I am preparing to become one of the entertainers from one of the scientists.:) I look at the state of state music and the Internet and think, "it's the code stupid."
"Women are no less capable of enjoying violence as men."
Ahh, but will women act violently if no place is found to vent?
In my experiance, lashing out in physical violence is more a male attribute. It's just the nature of testosterone, which men have more off. There have been studies...
My fiance and I watch Jackie Chan all the time. She introduced me to many kung foo movies. We cool off when watching these movies, so we both feel emotionally relived.
We both feel the burn, but due to chemical differances, mens equivilent emotional distress is amplified on the physical relm. The symptoms are more dramatic and dangerous. A dumb/weak/sick man is more likely to be comfortable with outbursts as an appropriate way to relieve stress. Simply because they come natural and that man is to dumb/weak/sick to chalange it.
He may have even been more rewarded than a woman would be because he is bigger, stronger, scarrier looking. It requires less skill from a man for an outburst to have a reward.
I don't know that his statement was sexist. Incomplete, perhaps, but not overtly offensive.
"(NB - this would not cause a volcano, for reasons he points out, mostly due to tube size and geometry). Why is this the case? does some of the matter get combusted into a gas and escape out the chimney?"
That's easy. Do this on a miniscule unpopulated tropical Island that you would need to buy anyway. If you cause a volcano than you have a big tropical island to build lots of resorts on.:)
Right now the free market is saying. OK obviously the government is interested in the status quo (if you don't believe this I won't try to convince you). The status quo works for very few people these days. Therefore the market will cross it's arms and not do crap until everybody is poor, even Bill Gates. Watch the personal wealth/power distribution drop from 99%/1% to 90%/10% or more again. Antitrust didn't stop the railroads and Oil. New technologies and a cost cut inspiring depression did. Railroads? Why? We can run a car 24 hours.
How will this happen? Devaluing of the Dollar and American assets. Massive inflation negating wealth. Effective redistribution.
When will this happen? It already is, look at gold prices and Euro conversions. Higher prices comming to a store near you soon.
The length and depth of the generational recession/depression is equal to the depth of corruption in the govenment. We got a few more years of this, maybe even five.
"...you don't play fair. Keep you're restrict-a-net and you're Microsoft. Oh and thanks for all the HB1 trained nerds, the Internet, and all that great music."
One day, a dozen years later, a lone Governor says, "Hey where did all the money go? Why are all the good sites in German?"

"In the killer robot... over there. I forgot the password, you'll have to shut him down manually."
Unrevoked, do you think decryption software user(not developer or distributor) violation enforcement will broaden enough to touch a family in every community?
Do you think this would be sufficent to create a substantical counterculture where copyrighted entertainment are commonly given under specific licences like the GPL to be safe from prosecution?
If criminal enforcement becomes common against users of decryption software do you think academia will embrace, promote, or even fund an entertainment counterculture?
The only problem isn't with research, but the appearance of research. Big government needs to dump big money into research for fueal cells for any company to seriously consider building nationwide chains of natural gas to hydrogen converter stations.
Diesel and Gas, however just require slight modification to exisiting use and application. They require little new infrastructure. They are going to happen naturally in the market now anyway.
Hybrid cars will be the temporary stop. Eventually leading to fuel cell models. Hybrids don't need any more boost than the current state of oil prices.
Look at Tommy's new hot rod, he got the big wet one!
Just make my alignments clear, I talk all the time about the GPL. I remind people who focus on a particular bug/feature, or the use of Unix, that the GPL along with the Internet is the technology. The type of OS or Software can be any.
My knowladge of the idea for gratis/libere language actually originates from the FSF itself. I think getting people to talk about what the meaning of freedom is, is more important than guiding them to the foundation who recognised the problem (with software) first. People like to think they thought of a particular idea first, in order to accept it. Using the ambigous Linux helps people's self promotion along, and ultimately they will learn of the FSF's role in due time. The FSF seems to be focused of defining languge, so I am suggesting defining this language instead. It seems less self important to a new person.
I agree changing the name of the FSF is a bad idea. That doesn't mean the LSF can't be a good running joke.:)
The english language is broken with the systematic intentional abuse of the word freedom and liberated by the press. (respect is another example of abused word) The word free is very ambigous and the liber(al) root of liberated has been abused no end. Perhaps extensive use of the less confusing or revialed liberty.
I don't really think the FSF is about abolishing copyright, but there are many other problems due ridiculous copyright stay. The national conversation that starts with GNU ultimatly ends up questioning copyright.
What radio show do you participate in? Has your parent company tried to shut you down yet, or is it public? I would like to listen.
There is a company in my lug looking to rig sevral 802.11 cards into a wap for a cheap toaster firewall/router type thingy.
There is a FCC unregulated application for such a (two way) D/A card and transmiter/reciever. EE geeks you should be scott free from hollywood evil accusations.
Rather than focus energy on FSF promotion for itself (GNU), why not get people thinking about our broken language another way.
I suggest the FSF should pushing for the use of spanish words gratis and libere in place of free. It focuses on American assumptions on cost and rights, and might help the world get free of hollywood's chinese finger trap.
Copyright is an problem of American misunderstanding first. If copyright is the Free Software Foundation's enemy, this is where to strike. It's time to think outside the jail of our language. LSF has a nice ring to it.
Thats the thing. The car sensors don't have a massive board o blinken lights on the dashboard. They let a a computer handle the corrective action. In the case of a car it's to turn on the traction control in a particular wheel or change the fuel ratio based on air-pressure/temperature. Likewise a computer dedicated to tile readouts could look for patterns of failure. Sort of a (potential) heat matrix marking areas where too many tiles are cracked destroyed or missing.
Kinda like an adjustable right wing idiot light. It would alert the astronauts they might want examine the heat matrix further because a potentially dangerous pattern is forming.
Just because NASA central doesn't directly initially analize the raw data doesn't mean it couldn't be useful.
Perhaps I am thinking to simply, but if they did not have enough information about the state of the shuttle, isn't it time for more sensors , hense more information. Autombiles now have sensor systems as extensive as the shuttles. How about a rfid transmiter (or induction proven heat resistant equivelent) attached the back of every tile? If 30 thousand dollar cars have nervous systems equivelent to the shuttle (minus a couple of gyroscopes) isn't time for more sensors?
What is the most expensive part on a car the motor? The computer? The transmition? The body? Antilock brakes? Nope it's the wiring harness. Perhaps the shuttle is due for a sensor upgrade. No spacewalk needed.
I wonder why they didn't lobby the hell out of government at the time, and if they did, why did they lose the battle against anti-trust legislation?"
They did lobby and won most battles, just not all.. The side effect was for our economy to gear up for a very deep cleansing cycle. We call it the great depression.
Capitalism in a democracy (or republic) can operate with only so much overhead (corruption) and then it cleanses itself. This happens every sixty years or so. The greater the corruption, the deeper the recession/depression. Every single MSFT or AOL or PMs lobbying successes equals a larger failure country wide. Eventually (any remotely) economic law will be total spegetti code and we will need an FDR to fix it.
Lets hope the voting public realises this before they vote/relect any candidate without strict views on campain finance. Soft money may be gone after this election, but the election process is far from fair.

Which all comes down to the FCC mismanagement.
Bastards.
No two radio/tv stations have any business have one share of stake in each other. Anything else is a scam.
Do not buy albums from new bands not promoting strictly on the Internet. At least match purchases from clearchannel bands with donations to the EFF.

I'm actually surprised that hasn't happened yet.
