I think if Richard had children and the demands of feeding and housing a family he might have somewhat different views. I'm certainly far less left leaning that when I was in academia.
Honestly, non-programmers shouldn't be allowed to use computers.
Maybe microsoft could come out with some crappy 12 button keyboard so he can have a "mobile phone" like user interface.
I wonder though, if a predictive-text entry numeric keypad wouldn't actually be good for programming. I could update the dictionary with my variable and function names.. hum... nah. My thumb is half broken as it is.
I still remember buying LPs rather than cassettes because of the quality of the album cover ( early genesis fans will know what I mean ). I'm sad those days are gone
Can't see the web site, so don't know what they did.
I've been using olive oil successfully for years. Pour a smal drop on and wipe over the surface with a lint free cloth. Recommend not reading the CD in your best drive though (although I have had no trouble)
A company I used to work for, haptica, developed this for key-hole surgery about 7 years ago

What was nice was that they used the Havoc physics engine - the Havoc boys were just round the corner from us in Dublin. Those havoc boys, they knew how to party!
"The California attorneys take the position that the damages are 200 times $90 million, or 18 billion, which is more revenuse than google has received in its entire existance"
You just have to hand it to lawyers, they'll try anything.
I was just hinting that it is really the fools who have high speed net access, left on 24-7 but do not bother to consider computer security who are too blame - not the computers themselves.
From my comment rating I guess my point was lost. Maybe less british comedy next time;o)

Dont buy their games
Wow, to think that TCP/IP hadn't been invented when it was launched ;o)
Considering the crap most people feed their children, the danger of a mobile phone is a minor addition.

>Proxy Sites Offer Secret Passage to Myspace
I can think of *so* many better destinations for Secret Passages.
It may not be sexy, but it is good to hear that there is some justice in this world. God knows, there is precious little of it around at the moment.
damm thats funny
I'll not buy them. Simple.
This will push up online sales, not lower them.

Modded down. Thanks for asking.
>Damages to a third party CAN be more than the company makes.
Would you care to explain your reasoning *in this case* though?
Nice quote:

You just have to hand it to lawyers, they'll try anything.
Maybe I should have clarified my point :o)

The game itself isn't important. It's simply a good way of bringing a family together. ;o)
When you have children, you'll understand
>The vast majority of this spam is relayed by 'zombies,' also known as botnet computers."
I think he meant:
The vast majority of this spam is relayed by 'zombies,' also known as american citizens.
When did Java become portable? :o)
This just sounds like typical academic marketing fluff. "Look, I'm doing important stuff! Not just Minix3!!"
Tanenbaum is a puff ball.

I wonder what people 45 years ago would have made of the technology we use today? Why shouldn't technology 45 years in the future surprise us as much?
Well lets look at what current footballers are like. Mostly dumb, and very vain.
We have dumb robots, so we just have to work on the 'vain' bit over the next 44 years.
