    Funny, all the 9x versions are compatible with each other, and all the NT versions are compatible with each other. And, most of those are updates.

    95 -> 98 -> 98SE -> ME
    NT4 -> 2000 -> XP

    Apple did this with MacOS, they released what, like 10 consecutive versions?

    Hmm, how many versions of Mac OS have been released? Oh yes, and how many of them are 90% or more compatible? And this is what? Something that MS does? hmm... interesting. What? You couldn't add or remove features from the old Mac OS'es at will? That's horrible! This is all Microsoft's fault... wait, MacOS came out BEFORE Windows! Who started this trend, again?

    Java is an excellent language... when it was first announced, and started becoming popular, I went out and bought a set of 5 official Sun books on java.

    After getting them home and messing with them, I was sorely dissapointed.

    Java was a GREAT language. But Sun's JDK, and JRE, and everything, sucked horribly. They were slow, inflexible, buggy, and hard to work with. So I kept using C++ and VB. And now Sun has finally started to get their act together, with lots of fixes to the JDK and JRE, and with technologies like Java3D - but SWING is still horribly slow, and Java is still at a large disadvantage when compared to C#.

    Microsoft has the money, the support, and the staff to pull off the .NET thing, and C# is an excellent language - I personally consider it better than Java, in design. Unless Sun pulls some major overtime, they're going to lose to MS.

    This case seems pretty cut-and-dry to me - the University decided they wanted their computer back, so they took it. It is a bit rude that they didn't give her a chance to back it up though - and the fact that they treated a Professor this way shows how bad the relationship between the teachers and administration at schools can be sometimes.

    Is it just me or isn't Yahoo trying to make up for their lack of usage as late, by pounding their users with more ads? People have quit using Yahoo for searching and as a portal, and are using better sites like Google to do all their searching, and sites like MSN, etc for their portal.

    Makes plenty of sense that Yahoo would try and make some money off the users they still have.
