    In the past three weeks we had several "leaked" eletronics. I think these companies are "leaking" it on purpose. It's a great marketing strategy, and builds a huge momentum waaaaay before your product actually hits the store.

    The plot: An analisys of what the dead person did in his life.

    The Characters: CEOs of Worldcom and Andersen, RIAA members, corrupt politicians, Bill Gates... ;)

    I think this could revive some lost values.

    Is President Bush not worried about "blowback", which is what happened when we helped the mujahadeen in Afghanistan when they were fighting the Russian army.

    I guess not. Since the USA already is building an oil duct in Afghanistan, what the first war was all about (territory control to transport oil), then we can expect that the interest on that area will increase.

    And with interest, come investitors.

    It's capitalism saving the world again!

    Then you can get a nice firewall or browser plug-in that will block ad images and cookies. The page will look uglier, indeed, but it will save you hours of bandwith.

    Oh well, perhaps you won't like the IA on this game, but they can continually improve it until maybe, can replace the player. Even if it doesn't, it's innovation for now, and that we must applaud.

    Now imagine if an AI learns how to play the style of the champions, for example, if the CounterStrike champion of your local LAN center is a camper with a sniper or a machine gun, what crate he likes to hide on that map, etc, etc.. Even playing 50% of this, you could effectivily play against "half" of what the world's best player has to offer.

    For example, bots could also be created for RTS games. Imagine that you suck against fast players with some race on a particular game. You could download enemies with this playing style, and practice against.

    Of course, it won't be the same as the real thing, but for training or for fun, it's a great step.

    But I believe MS loses money on Xbox sales. If people start to pay 200 for it and use it with other purposes, MS might raise the price.

    3 million people, or 6% of the male adult population. That's scary, in average 1 of every 20 person you know (or could know) are in jail.

    Somewhere, disguised, with computer parts laying around... It seems like Lamo didn't want to give his location, yet, there were hundreds of ways to finding out.

    Why speak of "hackers" like this? Are they still a sub-culture, marginalized?

    I don't like to think, or say to others, that the price includes the right to make a copy.

    Because If they charge less, does it remove my right to copy? Of course not.

    Making a copy, for archival or distribution purposes, is a right on its own.

    Then he's wrong. I am from Brazil too, you CAN patent software and algorithmic ideas. It's just that (not that I am aware, at least), a law that has been enforced, or gained media attention over any case.

    For example, we do have equivalents of the RIAA and BSA.
