... is how much of this is accessible to the wrong people. Say when Dick, George & company get out of office... how much will they be able to access to do their (evil) bidding?
[regurgitation] As mentioned on Infinite Loop, however, it is possible to activate an iPhone without committing to AT&T's "required" 2-year service plan. By entering "999-99-9999" into the Social Security field, you will get booted into GoPhone (AT&T's prepaid phone plan that does not require a contract) mode. An equivalent voice plus data plan under GoPhone comes out to about $10 more per month than a similar plan under contract, and so this may be a very attractive option to those who aren't interested in committing to AT&T for long periods of time. Seeing as AT&T isn't subsidizing the iPhone's cost when you sign a contract (as most carriers do in order to entice customers with steep phone discounts), it doesn't seem as if there is much reason not to go this route unless you are interested in saving $10 per month and don't mind being in a contract for two years. This is the simplest way to activate the iPhone without a contract without getting into some hackery, which we will discuss in a later section. It will cost $175 to break an iPhone contract with AT&T if you choose to leave before the two years is up (although if you cancel the contract within 30-days of activation, you will not get charged an early termination fee. If you return an open-box iPhone within 14 days of purchase, Apple will charge you a 10 percent restocking fee). [/regurgitation]
... maybe 25+ years ago when *my* parents were freaking out about a large long distance (domestic & international) phone bill. Only took me once to get in hot doodoo to figure out how not to let them (or me) pay for calling BBSs.
My site had been generating about $100/month (hey don't laugh it paid the bills) for some time (over a year). We got an email from Google pointing the finger at us encouraging clicks on the ads. Back in January/February of this year, we have had some dialogue with Adsense customer service, a total of 2 emails. Our issue is still open ended... on their side. They gave us an oppurtunity to answer their questions and we never heard back from them. We've attemped numerous times to get our account reopened, but they've been ignoring us.
As we were not the biggest customer, we were still a customer. Ignoring someone only makes the grumblings worse.

Ah Steve... you always say that when your back is against the wall. Sure throw a billion dollars at it to start the spin machine and we'll all think you have... until the numbers come out and you can chalk up yet another billion dollar failure.
The fact that *any* orginazation is in the practice of using your SSN as an identifier is B as in B, S as in S.
Universities are notorious for giving away the farm on their students identity... there was not much I could do about it except refuse and only try to use my last four, but that made some admin angry because you would make them think.
We all know this, but finally some organizations are begining to see the light... our SSN is not for identification.

TSS was steadily going downhill long before G4 got ahold of them. Once Leo Lapporte it was all Patrick could do to stay afloat.
I no longer Tivo'd TSS or any TechTV show after that.

One thing that the might Google will need to address is their (lack) of Customer Service.
Totally ignoring people just does not fly.
The folks they have assigned to Google Adsense are a prime example.
Don't know. I happily use a Mac.

Yawn... it'll be a flop like, oh I dunno, remember SIDEWALK?
Note to Microsoft: Give us a break and quit wasting effort on things you don't know about and FIX YOUR SOFTWARE!!!
In case you mised it then... Typepad is having issues @ the data center so lets all link to them from SLASHDOT...

I'll stay in Minneapolis for our Zombie Pub Crawl thanks.

I distinctly remember watching Benny Hill after my 2200 news here in Minneapolis as a kid and seeing full frontal nudity.
The weakest link in any security chain is the human link... esp ones that filled the manditory college degree quota.
Poor bastards...
But don'tchya think that it is high time to put that effort into making their software secure?
They spend alot of time and money attempting to put a spin onto the security of Linux, but not enough into their own software.
I, for one, am very tired of this company plodding their way through complaining about others but not taking care of their own.
Still my favorite:
