A single title like MarioKart is a shot in the arm but it can't turn the ship around by itself. Nintendo will have to hope they can keep throwing out good titles for long enough that sales pick up and some 3rd parties come back.
Worked for Sony. Remember for the first 4 years of the PS3's life, it was a joke. Horribly expensive, almost no games worth playing, and it took developers years to finally figure out how to make game on par with the 360, much less better. Then there were the cries that Blu-Ray was just a gimmick and that they should have gotten rid of it. After a few price cuts and once Sony stepped up their game with first party and indie titles did the PS3 finally gain steam. And this was against a console with paid subscription multiplayer, a start screen full of ads and the worst quality control blunder in the history of consoles!
Are you kidding, a significant portion of those people are under the delusion that if they work their ass off now, they will be start-up billionaires by the time they're 30. And guess what, there are plenty of companies that are more than happy to indulge their fantasy. Only, after five-to-ten years of that crap do they start to realize that except for a very small few, it is a pipe dream. Of course, by that time they are considered too old for the industry and are replaced by another delusional young go-getter and the cycle repeats. They don't want a unions or regulations, or anything that might jeopardize their chance at being the next software / web billionaire. The ironic thing is that while this is one of the most liberal areas in the country, the entire place is like an Ayn Rand dystopia.
I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.
I wouldn't call Amazon a "New Player" in the phone market. The Kindle Fire is still an Android tablet and has been selling like hot cakes. They also have had 4G connectivity for a few years. The Kindle phone is just a smaller version of their tablet that can make phone calls. Other than the smaller form factor and phone app, nearly everything else is the same.
Trying to get government to run networks would work well up front, but in 5 years it would be outdated and there would be no money to upgrade it.
What is the difference between that and what we have now? It isn't like Comcast is working around the clock to beef up their last-mile connections.
I feel the same way about internet service that I feel about Healthcare: I am all for private for-profit alternatives, but there needs to be a solid free or low-cost (non-profit) public option. Everybody should have a minimum standard with the option to go with a private entity if they want something better. Something needs to shake up the Internet monopolies and overthrow their comfy fiefdoms.
You mean you never heard the old Viking tales of how Thor and Kaptein Amerika fought to control the rampaging monster known as the GrÃnn Raseri Mann all for the affections of the goddess Freyja? I remember there being a Shieldmaiden, Sort Enke. I believe it has something to do with how Vikings got their shields. It was all apart of the ancient Agenter Skjold saga.
She wasn't? I just thought it was a rather manish drag queen, which made it even creepier. That's not to say any of the system lords appeared to be 100% heterosexual (especially Ra and Ba'al).
Hey, all you physicists, mathematicians, geologists, astronomers, programmers, researchers, astronauts, engineers, marine biologists, architects, electricians, lawyers, politicians, professors, businessmen, defense contractors, rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists what the hell are you doing!?
Don't you know that there is no cure for CANCER!? Drop everything and find a cure for it. We must start teaching everyone everything we know about cancer starting in elementary school so that we can eliminate this problem fast. What do you mean you have no interest in medicine or medical research? If you're not with us, than you're against us. We as a society can and must only focus on one problem at a time.
I don't know, I like the idea of only having a 30 minute drive to Home Depot, pick it up and be playing with it that day vs ordering it online (even if it is slightly cheaper) and waiting a week or two for it to get here.
I always try to buy local for big-ticket items, especially when it comes to having to return it. Plus, I've seen enough videos of UPS / Fedex people drop-kicking and otherwise abusing packages to not want to rely on them for the real fragile and expensive stuff.
Funny, after the accident, Harold McCluskey was very pro-nuclear. Stating that what happened was little more than an industrial accident (assuming that the Wikipedia entry is to be trusted).
Well, if the time travel documentary, "Back To The Future 2" is correct, Jaws 19 will be coming out next year. So, we should be getting about a dozen sequels in the next few months.
Totally stoked for hoverboards, flying DeLoreans, and Home fusion reactors to be invented and appear on the market within the next couple of months as well!
I would love to have more modern version of Usenet. A simple news and commenting protocol that can be implemented in a web browser or a dedicated client alike. Something that is ubiquitous as RSS feeds. I have a client that aggregates all the latest articles from my favorite sites and and then can go in and browse comments in a tree like structure. I would have the ability to mark individual stories and even sub-threads to follow or know what comments I have read or have yet to read. Hell, I doubt that something like that would really be that hard to hack into RSS or design from scratch in XML.
Personally, I miss the early days of the internet where everything had a tool, and there was a tool for everything. There were programs and protocols galore: HTTP, Gopher, Usenet, Email, FTP, IRC, Archie / Veronica, Telnet for BBSes. Most of them are dead or so niche to be included only for "legacy compatibility". Now there is just HTTP to rule them all and shit is boring.
Hank Scorpio offers great salaries, awesome compensation packages, on-the-job hammocks, and if you want to kill someone on the way out, it would really help him out.
Personally, I think the northern climate excuse needs to go. Germany is farther north than the entire United States (minus Alaska) and they have been the worlds leader in Photovoltaic power generation since 2005. It isn't like they get more sunshine than Arizona or have more land area than the US.
I spend most of my Internet time on Slashdot and Fark. The major question is: Have I become a cynical asshole because I hang out at Slashdot and Fark or do I hang out at Slashdot and Fark because I already am a cynical asshole?
Slashdot and Fark - The news forums for the discerning cynical asshole!
Tell me about it, The Wii sold gangbusters and still no serious developer wanted to touch it. It practically had only first party games and tons of shovelware. Guess what, nobody bought the shovelware. On any other console, publishers would have said, "we are putting out crappy games that no one is buying" but because it is a Nintendo console, they just say, "See, no one buys games on a Nintendo console!" I am convinced that Nintendo could have a 99% market penetration and still no publisher would want to make anything other than the cheapest, crappiest, as-little-effort-as-possible game and then bitch that nobody wants their crap.
I was really bored in my college compiler design class, so I was browsing the web and came across the programming website 99-bottles-of-beer.net. While browsing, I discovered a language with the greatest name ever, Brainfuck. After looking it up on Wikipedia and quickly reading over the code sample at 99 Bottles, I wrote an interpreter during class. By then end of the lecture, I had a working interpreter that ran the sample code perfectly. So in the span of ~40 minutes, I went from never knowing about this language to having written an working interpreter for it, all out of pure boredom in a compiler design class. I showed it to the professor, who found it neat, but I couldn't get any extra credit because it is a *compiler* design class and not an *interpreter* design class.
You are under the assumption that all jobs must generate wealth. Look at a janitor, how much wealth is this guy generating. Are people going to buy more just because the toilets are clean? What about school districts, are the janitors mopping the floor making the school any money? Maybe we should just fire all the janitors because if they don't produce wealth, they must be useless.
What about cashiers? What about Middle Management? How much money to these people directly generate vs how much their paid? A good cashier can process more customers in a shorter amount of time generating more dollars per minute income for a store and yet typically get paid shit wages. The average HR middle manager is just a useless paper pusher and get paid pretty damn well, even better than the engineers, developers, and laborers who actually *make* products the company sells.

He is trying to learn a language. It is just a dead language!

If by "brings out the best in us" you mean a "huge wave of crime, vandalism, and looting because the po-po can't do shiat", then you are correct.
Really Infantile Firings.

Brainfuck and ED because I am a masochist.

I don't know about you, but I don't have an infinitely-large roof, so space is a concern...a pretty major concern.

Hey Juden, don't make it bad.
Take your sad chip and make it better.
Remember to put it into their phones
Then you can own
The Android market.
put everything on video in HD and online as a lesson to future idiots
Nah, it would just get copyright flagged by NBC Universal.
