    I have Single Sign On. It's called keepass.

    Same here, but it is a minor annoyance to have to copy/paste passwords from KeePass to my browser. That's why FireFox's stored passwords (protected by a master passwords) is so usefull.

    A $6B bug ? If you insist on a car analogy, I would rather say that they clashed into a cow; the bumper was damaged and needs to be changed, but the car is definitely not destroyed.

    Even for Microsoft, $6B is a lot of money...

    Ah, the joys of owning an iDevice. You have to constantly plan ahead financially for when the next version comes out.

    Yes, but Apple customers are usually happy to do it, and look forward to replace their current iDevice.

    In contrast, the typical Microsoft customers are companies who buys new licenses because they can't avoid it.

    I fully agree with you for the 20th century, but the USA in the 21st century has been more a source of problems than of solutions.

    Instead of 50 states we could have ended up going down the path of creating 50 different countries and boy wouldn't that be fun.

    Maybe it would be less fun, but why would people be less happy or poorer in smaller countries ? I would argue the opposite (I come from Switzerland...), and some studies agree.

    Besides, the world as a whole would currently be better off with a smaller and less aggressive USA...

    That's not as easy as it used to be. When's the last time you saw a phone booth or a pay phone? There are a couple left in the city where I live, but not many. So, what happens when you have an emergency or your car breaks down and you need to call AAA? With the demise of pay phones, cell phones are no longer a luxury, they are a necessity.

    Even if you need a phone in case of emergency, you don't need to keep it active all the time. Turning it off might be risky (you wouldn't known when the batteries are empty), but "airplane mode" is fine.

    Unhackable ? If somebody steals it from you, you will experience an original case of denial-of-service... And how do you manage backups (just in case you lost your notebook) ?

    If your set of rules are really safe, why not simply write everything in an electronic note ?

    It's like a car without wheels or a computer without a CPU.

    Yeah, this was also my first reaction.

    But some people (like me) have trouble sleeping if they have coffee after 4-5 PM; so it would be nice to be able to have a real coffee (not a decaf) after dinner.

    And it actually is a Chinese phone. Did you have any doubts?

    Let me say it again : iPhones are currently built in China and Brazil, and there were rumours of a possible additional plant in Turkey. It clearly means that the country in which iPhones (or any other similar devices) are built is not so meaningful anymore; what matters is that their design and software come from California.

    Back to the GP and his Honda Odyssey : if it was designed in Japan, it is for me a Japanese car, even if most of it was assembled in the USA.

    I just bought an American made car last week, a Honda Odyssey. It tells you on the window sticker these days where stuff was made. Assembled in Lincoln, Alabama USA. Engine constructed in USA, Transmission constructed in USA. 70% of all parts for it come from the USA, 15% from Japan, and the rest from "other". That's good enough for me to call it American.

    Following your reasoning, an iPhone could be considered as a Chinese (or Brazilian) phone...

    I was also a big fan of Alan Parsons Project 30 years ago. Lately, I "accidentally" found a torrent of their discography, and gave it a try. It was not a good idea.

    But Google would probably cause each byte written to the volume to result in a 5GB upload, making it practically unusable...

    More ways for Google to know what you're doing. Will they be scanning your documents? Checking the artist names of the songs you have there and target ads related to them?

    I don't understand why this has been flagged as "Flamebait", it is the central question for such a service : would Google analyze your documents to provide targeted advertisement, or would they treat your "GDrive" as a black box ?

    The former would not be acceptable for many persons (including me), but the latter would provide no upside for Google....

    I just want it to work. On OS X at home. On Windows at work. On Linux, BeOS, CP/M (well, I give that a pass) or whatever. The vendors all have an agenda which, so far, hasn't jibed well with mine.

    Have a look at Ubuntu One. It still (yet) lacks OS X support, yes, but Canonical's agenda looks much better to me than Apple's or Google's.

    WebKit, an open-source software engine used by browsers to display Web pages, that just didn't have the horsepower to run fast enough to be on par with the iPhone

    One for the four proposed answers, at least one (if not sometimes two) is completely out of range. A not completely dumb person should hence statistically have 20 correct answers out of the 60 questions, with a very low probability of having only 10 correct answers.

    FoxIt is my PDF reader of choice, I use it everyday, but I don't trust it : every time that I upgrade it, it tries to install unneeded stuff behind my back.

    Mmmmh, my impression is that it is completely free today (as in "free beer"), the commercial version being named "FoxIt Phantom".

    Another thing that I don't like with these pseudo-free readers (such as also PDF Xchange Pro) : a feature which is present today in the free version may someday only be available in the commercial version. It once happened to me a long time ago with FoxIt...
