ok, not *permanently* unbreakable but a one time pad (assuming the 'pad is sent safely:) has certain advantages over normal asymmetric codes....
You can't really compare symmetric and asymetric algorithms in terms of which is 'better'. You're never going to use a symmetric algorithm for digital signatures, and crypt(4) is not going to use public and private keys.
Perhaps papers like these should actually focus on the real reason that DOS attacks are so easy. Crappy code.
According to Sophos (and I'd like to hope they know what they're talking about) the majority of the top ten viruses of April 2002 are e-mail based social engineering worms.
Finding out why Yoda is the master is quite memorable (Holy hell yes!)
Actually, one of the things that I will probably remember most about the film is the way that everybody laughed when Yoda had just had his first Force equivalent of an arm wrestle with Dooku, and did his Matrix pose and tried to look intimidating.
They shut the hell up when he whipped out his light saber, though . . .
OK if it can take k10k it can take anything. Guess it's just my DHTML that sucks. Maybe I should get a book and learn how to do it properly. This reverse engineering shit doesn't work as well for the Net as it does for C. That's what happens when you try to make a fault tolerant mark-up language, I suppose . . .
Lazy web developers do a good job writing non-standard code and not testing it in any browser but IE.
Show me a non-lazy (un-lazy?) web developer and I'll promptly file a bug at Surfstation.
Mate's site - To be honest it's pretty butt-ugly anyway, and I'm not sure what he means when he says it isn't rendering right, but here the link. If you Slashdot him I'll pay.
As a web developer I can't do without IE. I spend a lot of time browsing graphic design sites and they are all built for IE. The reason? IE does the best job at making complicated sites look good.
The feature set may not be 3WC compliant, but as my friend pointed out, his web page is 100% standard compliant and won't render properly in anything.
I dunno about the States, but over here in little old Britain, all the 80's kids television is coming back on video in a big way. And not just second hand - this stuff is being re-re-released. I just bought Transformers the Movie, and the copyright is for 2001. And not just Transformers - Fraggle Rock, Trapdoor, Danger Mouse, Button Moon, (the Brits know what I'm talking about . ..)
There's some seriously smart people out there saturating student orientated towns with 80's kids TV shows on video, and making an absolute mint out of it. Hell, I keep buying the things. What I really want is Knightmare . . .
"The purpose of firewalls is to isolate a machine from the bad guys who might exploit security holes you want to leave open for the local good guys . .."
Still handy for shutting out spyware connecting out, though. Not sure if it's worth all that money just for that . . .
A friend of mine had never touched a drum machine in his life was messing around on Fruity Loops on my PC and produced some of the most delicate loops I've ever heard. Without relatively cheap software packages he'd never have had the opportunity.
You have to decide whether you want small amounts of high quality music by a few truly talented people, or masses of noise with some really good work that would otherwise remain undiscovered.
You don't have to watch them. Simply turn up fifteen minutes late. Instant advert trimming. If you get your timing right you can even miss the adverts and still see the trailers . . .
Besides, do you honestly think that if the adverts were removed then it would cost less to see the film?

They're different tools for different jobs.
I remember when I first heard that some guy called Peter Jackson was directing LOTR I recognised the name somewhere.
Ever seen Braindead? When I realised I almost choked on my toast . . .
Could be interesting . . .
Hey, nothing happened.
Does that mean I passed?
Hang on, where's all my stuff gone?
If his life really did flash before his eyes, what would hapen when he ran out of life? Would he have to watch it more than once?
I guess they why they picked such an old guy.
Wouldn't want him getting bored and falling asleep half way down . . .

The problem is crappy users.
I wonder how many citizens of Islamabad help the terrorists one way or another . . .
Did you know that the IRA gets pretty much all of it's funding from America to blow up British people?
Just a though.

DHTML, eh? Ah! The ultimate challenge! k10k!
. . . . Goddammit!

Because I don't have a TV at uni.

Orson Welles did a Micro Machines commercial?
Call me snobbish, but it's a coupla steps down from The Third Man isn't it?

Up to you.
Good thinking, Batman.
I'd better start sitting in front of my monitor from now on . . .
Content matters the most. But then several hundred people have already told you that. Probably because it's true.
However, if you want your site to look lush, then you can do a lot worse than learning from these fine people.

How about this for a new Slashdot poll . . .

Uh-oh, that sounds like an angry mob. I'm outta here!
