This guy is probably in the right, but my take is- in general it is an agreed upon custom that stores check what you bought partly for looking for mistakes (both in your favor and theirs). I always show my bags to the people standing at the door at best buy even if they dont ask. I generally get in and out very quickly. Now, if a police officer asked to see my bags outside the same doors, I would not comply unless they could show me the tape where I supposedly put something in there or on my person- or bring me the employee who claimed to see something. I'm all for rights preservation- but in general I'm not worried about walmart or best buy- i can always decide not to shop there if they abuse the practice. I worry about the police. IMHO, the guy should have let them check his bag out of courtesy, but once they blocked him, it became a different game. They should have called the police then, per protocol not play some stupid power trip game. At that point they were outside the limits of reasonable behavior. The police officer then should be neutral or even leaning towards the person who called him in- in this case the boy/man. The guy shouldn't have had to show his license and the obstructig official business charge is bunk- but had he, it would have made life easier and this would all be over. I respect his choices, but probably would have done it differently.
Often, submissions are "rejected" and posted with edits and attributed to an editor. Sometimes the original author is mentioned, sometimes not. Ive had a few just shy of verbatim submissions rejected that were ultimately accepted under an editors name.
I swear to ghu that I saw a propeller like that in some sub movie- though it fails to render a name in my mind. I remember seeing a prop just like that on a cg shot of the sub driving away/up - perhaps in a torpedo sequence?
Anyway, I could be wrong, but I think I've seen one before.
There's a difference between computerized records and online. I'd argue that with the right encryption and access protocols and safeguards, computerized records are more secure than a locked filing cabinet. Even online records can be secured if designers are paranoid and careful. The problem is when things aren't done with security in mind, or cutting corners to save money or time- or "wouldn't it be easier if everyone just had the root password" type thinking. You information doesn't necessarily want to be free, but the default state of most secured objects is fail-safe/fail-open. They make fail-secure doors, but they cost money, and someone with the right credentials (either legitimately obtained and used out of deception, or stolen) can always get in. These sites just need better safeguards and/or programmers and possibly better employee screening.
It won't happen until there are not only established corridors, but when the computer does everything and won't unlock except for someone with a pilots/advanced license. I fully account for needing redundancy in hardware and cumputing hardware as well. Technology needs to ocme further.
I imagine we'll have to perfect "auto pilot" on the ground first. Once we see cars going down the highway in perfect formation, with nary an accident, will we take that to the sky.
If I'm running a business, must I log the home address and date/time of everyone who comes through my doors? Can the courts compel me to do so? Just because I -could- log that data doesn't mean I have to does it?
Indeed- I had 4 75GB IBM 75GXP disks purchased at the same time (about a week apart)- two were actually smaller by some fraction (I don't recall, 10 or 100mbish) and had different # of sectors. The two bigger ones had the all too well know failure, the others are still operational.
I personally don't lend much credence to creationism- but I don't see why they don't just say "ok, so we might have been a bit wrong about the timeline". After all, the bible was written by men (who are fallible, no matter what you think of God) in another language and then tranlated to english, a number of different ways. Ah, but therein lies the rub, if you accept that the bible isn't a 100% literal account of God's law, then much of the religion breaks down- especially for the more orthodox end of the spectrum. I personally think our existence is a miricle and have witnessed some real miricles myself- but I am a scientist sort of mind, how can this be? I subscribe to the belief that the bible is a set of stories, based on truth or not, but that present an intended meaning and set of guidelines to live by. I think to some extent, you can and have to pick and choose what was intended because we can't hear ir from "the horses mouth". I think if you try to be good to other people and not let harm come to someone in the immediate where trying could have at least a chance of helping, and you do think about the whole "WWJD" bit (whether you believe in him or not- just replace the J with some person of upstanding morals). If you try and be the best you can, admit and try to work on your flaws, you're living right, whether you believe in 1 god, no gods, or 100 gods. If you're atheist and you treat people right, you're ok by me. If you're of some religion and think killing in the name of your deity is ok, you maybe have something wrong with your level of thinking. I think evolution can fit in with christianity. What better way to create things the best they can be than evolution? Our existence, no matter how far back you figure it with science comes down to something impossible creating something from nothing and even religion never would be able to answer the question of where their deity and the space he resides in came from. Its all a great mystery, enjoy it, don't fight, and be the best you can be.
im stupider for having watched that, they even made me use the 'word' 'stupider'. That said, I'm actually glad to know that people are being subjected to that kinh of logical fallacy. I make no suggestions as to how life did or didn't start- evolution or not, our existence is a paradox, but if you're going to try and change beliefs, at least try not to intentionally mangle logic and reason.
JAVA to me says no revenue though- since most people only see the java desktop and j2se. I realize the java server market is another story, but that's not what I think of when I think of java.
IMHO they should be SUNC (Sun Corporation) or SUNM (Sun Microsystems) or something. I would never buy stock in java or java technologies, but I would buy stock in workstations, blade servers, etc.
I am a citizen of the once great United States. It seems we havd been annexed by a German or Soviet nation. Our citizens have no means or training to fight off this invasion due to the erosion of our rights. Please come and reclaim your territory. I would much rather live under the slightly less oppresive rule of Great Britain and perhaps be able to at least fight for our rights again. Meanwhile, we have been conquered and you will soon face a new fascist rule that will attempt to smote you at the soonest possible opportunity. Come now, before we end up in camps.
gadzooks- today is not my day for typing! I switched to dvorak again a week or so ago and when I'm tired I make more typos than usual and I'm still looking at the keys too much to see/correct them. Please substitute the proper spelling where appropriate while I go back and work on rebuilding my touch typing skills.
Its been hard finding stable Vista32 drivers and application support (Even VS 2005 wasn't recommended until recently), which is why I haven't evev attempted vista 64. If I hadn't made a coustem motherboard bios, Asus would still be giving me the jerk on this A8N32 SLI Deluxe and I'd have no stable vista drivers (currently running newer than my board MediaShield BIOS and the 15.01 Vista drivers fairly stably). At the moment, my major beef is really the video problems that have developed (didn't always freeze up) and a couple of things like tivotogo (2.3a works, somewhat, most of the time). Before I made my new bios a week or so ago, I was having my nvidia mirrors spit disks out and freeze on bootup- Asus told me to go back to XP but that they were working on it. A couple of games (Sid Meier's Railroads! for one) don't work quite right on vista either.
For me, I like vista quite a bit for a reason I can't explain, but out of frustration I'm being pushed back to XP.
no no no.. Like this:

+5, sad but true
I always look at it at the store price and decide if that's a good deal, then tell myself if I get the rebate, it'll be really nice.

you mean the big one floating over the page and a million adwords sized ads?
I looked, saw 99% ads and 1% article and left the page- someone actually feel like wading through that?

Who said anything about 40 hours? Many of us work 50-70 regularly and there are others who work around 100 hours.
you did say you had karma to spare :)
they were labeled as such (75.6 gb and 76.1 gb or somesuch) and these were (at the time) new drives.

This is the only web-based contact method I could find- I wanted to email the judge directly. Perhaps I'll have to send a registered letter?

FWIW- I see the joke you were trying to make. Just imperfect delivery I guess. Mods can be very jumpy with the MS topic

Check for the dots under your eyelids...
Xilinx or Altera in conjunction with either of the CPU giants could change things.
doh- I haven't kept up on my world politics as well as I thought. Getting the bills paid takes everything I've got. Thanks for the correction.
