The web server stuff is fairly simple, you just make a server program sit and listen for an http request interpret it and spit back the html at the client. Plus if you need to, you can thread/fork program to deal with multiple requests.
What? You actually paid for that report? If you had searched Google and reference texts on the subject you would have been able to find the same information in that report for free.

symantic press releases are designed to scare people who are otherwise fairly well protected into purchasing their products.
Symantec admitted that "at the time of writing, no widespread exploitation of any browser except Microsoft Internet Explorer has occurred," but added that it "expects this to change as alternative browsers become increasingly widely deployed."
There is one caveat: Symantec counts only those security flaws that have been confirmed by the vendor. According to security monitoring company Secunia, there are 19 security issues that Microsoft still has to deal with for Internet Explorer, while there are only three for Firefox.
So basically, all microsoft has to do is confirm less of its vulnerabilities than its competitors to appear safer.
which of the seven nations Bush wants to nuke, is going to get it first? Of course, doing so may incite people to commit regicide, but I can imagine it will be enjoyable for people possessing a morbid sense of humor to watch.
True, but you could also put mp3's and photos in some other directory and then link to them from your home directory if you so desire. You'll want to redo the links every time you upgrade iphoto/itunes/os x, however, since Apple's installer doesn't seem to follow symlinks.

No. I'm not in the practice of producing non-portable code in the first place. The extra work of making something portable is still less work in the long run than producing multiple versions of said code.
Of course it takes more energy to make ethanol than comes out of it. This is *not* the point, the point is, once you produce the ethanol, it's now in a usable form for internal combustion engions. This is not about burning coal, oil, or whatnot to produce ethanol. If you're so worried about about dirty fuels, realize that solar, (or eventually fusion) power can be used to process ethanol, and being practical here, it is a hell of a lot less costly to develop new technologies when we can just use existing ones to produce a usable fuel source.
Perhaps it has a great deal to do with the fact that AMD is partners with IBM, and that the same plant that is producing AMD chips just happens to be the one that the G5 is currently coming out of.
I'm yet again seriously tempted to start forcing IE to load popups saying "Your system requires one of these browsers to continue" with links to standards supporting browsers.... and perhaps load a page with a big blue question mark in the center.
Or better yet, let them continue, but throw a warning popup that their system may become unstable if they continue... then crash IE with some trivial bit of code.... but this would take some kind of widespread grass roots movement to become effective.
Oh come on, You think you can stop the Right from implementing national ID? They need it so they can sort out who is loyal and who goes to the re-education/ concentration camps. They'll get it through one way or another, considering there is nothing in the Constitution really preventing it... not like thats stopped them from violating it before. Plus there is always the avenue of stripping away your citizenship if you commit terrorist acts or being tied to terrorists. Do remember that the definition of terrorist acts has been significantly widened in recent years.

and this:

After that you just write a few functions to produce the output you want, close the socket and wait for the next request.

YES!

Doesn't a 9 year old getting an MSCE tell you about something lacking in the MSCE, rather than the inherent creativity of an intelligent child.
Then how about we start calling it the software freedom movement and eliminate the confusion with "free as in beer".
This is hardly a "new" theory. At best it is a restatement of the decades old theories that are expressed here:http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/time-travel -phys/
