I am an Oracle Database Administrator and I've work with Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, Suse and Redhat and out of every one of them if I ran a business I would choose nothing else but Solaris. Solaris is a great OS. Linux isn't all cut out to what it's made out to be, it's buggy and nowhere near as stable.
I am an Oracle Database Administrator and I've work with Oracle (7.3.4,8i,9i,10g,11g) on Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, Suse and Redhat and out of every one of them if I ran a business I would choose nothing else but Solaris. Solaris is a great OS especially for running Oracle. It just works, very rarely does an instance crash and the workload it chugs through is amazing. When you think about how many computers are infected with malware it's not that bad of a law. Can they remove the malicious software for us also, considering it can be used for terrorist activities (there's a bit of sarcasm in this post but behind every joke is some truth).
While China and the US consume the world's resources, even the virtual ones the rest of the world is trying to adopt more efficient methods? Same old familiar story.
Yes, you can send alerts such as server down needy of attention to your mobile etc. The problem I've with mobile networks is delivery is not always guaranteed and for some businesses that is not acceptable however are oblivious that some mobile networks don't guarantee delivery unless you pay big bucks. There is also the possibility that someone "oncall" is out of range. This is why pagers are more reliable no matter how daggy they might look.
Bush had a good run in the media especially in making "the case" in the war against Iraq. He got a nice handshake from the mainstream media then, but when the shoe is on the other foot it's like the end of the world. Besides, the Republicans got so unpopular after two Bush terms it would be hard enough ramming the same trash down people's throats again.
The point was you can be caused harm and have to pay for it both financially and physically because of the "rules". Some Iraqis did invite the US (the ones that now don't live in Iraq now and have taken their loot elsewhere). Even if you have a labourer or lawyer do work for you it might not be on your behalf you can't always blame yourself that they screwed up and you selected them. Reality is you chose them because you can't do the work and by the time you discover they screwed up they could be long gone and with your money and all legally.
Have you ever had a lawyer lose your case in spectacular style then bill you for it? Have you ever had a labourer stuff up a job and bill you for it? Unfortunately that's how some people operate and it's no accident, you knock on their door they'll bill you for it. If you can destroy a country and make them pay for the damage for you to fix and profit from it, well, welcome to the world we live in, because this is how lazy greedy people operate in the 21st century and the best thing you can do is stay away from them full stop. Don't know what the Iraqis can do about it now except for hope the US leaves soon, or are they called "terrorists"? A vicious cycle emerges. Besides, would the US have invaded if they knew the Iraqis couldn't pay for the damage?
I was home sick one day and decided to destroy my soul with daytime tv. Along came Oprah, I caught about 20 minutes of it and it came across as a giant plug to get this fitness centre to sign up these "overweight" ladies waving a contract in the air that they were going to sign in order to lose some weight. How real the contracts were or how much it was going to cost them I don't know but Oprah must get some giant kickbacks.
When people put money where their mouth is they're worthy of attention, so here's what the bookmakers think about the election: Elections Betting. Obama's getting better odds, last time I checked over the weekend he was $1.40, now $1.26. Republicans are $3.75. Is it a forgone conclusion?
Also, Palin is a one-line wonder and can only screw things up. Anyone else know what October Surprise is?
This thread is bound to get political so here goes, as long as you can say you're anti-abortion and anti-gay you pretty much have most of the southern states wrapped up thanks to the Evangelical Christians.
The best questions to ask someone in a technical interview aren't theory questions but scenario questions that prove the persons experience, knowledge and skills. As an Oracle DBA I ask questions on backup/recovery, diagnosing user problems, performance issues, disaster recovery. If they can't cut the mustard they can't do the job, simple as that. You don't stick someone who thinks they can talk their way through in front of a production database because in a real situation the mud's going to fly everywhere.
As most huxsters have worked out, even if they do something illegal or border line illegal for a while and make a killing then, having no moral conscience it pays off. Unfortunately that's what's wrong with the world today. Look at the sub-prime mortgage crisis for example, how many lenders knew they were handing out bad debt? Do they care now? Probably not, they got their commission, as for everyone else, hasta la vista.
Remember the days when you had to pay to get a picture of your house taken? Was that a rip? Or does google have enough money around to be able to offer the entire earth (almost) as a free service?
Even when you make a donation to a "proper" fund, is it a scam? I know a guy who used to organise some "charity" work in the city. He told me if you place the people in the right spots you can make a mint. I said to him, so... do people have to donate money, can't they donate other things too, like food etc? He just laughed.
So, in these turbulent times, how to spot a fake charity? For the cause of Gustav, one that doesn't accept food or clothing and only money. Tell them 'flat out saving myself buddy'.
Well that too, there would definately be some overlap in the Anatolian area (Istanbul/Constantinople) and the West cost of Turkey (Izmir/Smyrna). Even include Cyprus in that, Hellenic with a Turkish minority.
Sicily and Southern Italy was originally settled by Greeks (Archimedes of Syracuse is a perfect example).
In terms of Arab influence, even Spain would have some genetic overlap between Northern Africans (Moorish influence).
You could keep going on until the entire world is on a map.
The map should have included Russia and other Eastern European areas. Also, one thing that makes me skeptical of the maps accuracy is there doesn't appear to be an overlap between EL and IT2.

Turkey hasn't always abided by international treaties, the occupation of Cyprus is one example.

Oh yes he did, the "HELP" scheme...

Star Wars used to be cool, but after the episode I,II and III flop (except the last 20 mins of III) most of us have given up.

Geee... they want everything equal when it suits them, but when the bill comes, where are they??

Name it the inconvenient Al Gore enviro-shuttle...
Is there a such thing as polluting the universe?

Would they let you pass with that in an airport?
Last post!!!
