So you are saying, we should just remove all oxygen from the athmosphere, and our CO2 problems solve itself?

  3. Scrubbing is one thing ... on Removing CO2 From the Air Efficiently · · Score: 2, Interesting

... but what will they do with the CO2 once they have it? Storing it under ground would solve the problem for us (maybe), but what of future generations. If they however would be able to "turbo grow" trees from it, or make some industrial breaking up of the molecule efficient, then I see some use in it.

I belive this "e-paper" first starts becoming useable (for me) when they bundle it into books, and the only difference from a normal book is that you have a (hidden) plug to upload a new book - I really would hate when I had to have batteries in there. That would spoil my hiking trips far of the next shop where I can get fresh batteries.

  9. Re:huh? on Ellison's ID Card Plan Gets More Attention · · Score: 2, Informative

I think this scenario is a little too paranoid. In Norway everyone has a unique number assigned to them at birth - the ID-number. You need this number everytime you deal with the tax-office etc and everytime a company wants/needs to check you credit history (for which there is a central register). As far as I know, it made ID-theft nearly impossible. Of course all non-government companys who want to access ANYTHING with this number need my written authorization. The only companys that I know have my number, are my bank, my car insurance and my mobilphone company (I am not sure about that one). Oh - btw we don't have any ID-cards since a norwegian bank card is a valid ID if it has a picture on it.

Wouldn't it be possible to f.ex disable the IIS-service via the script, stop IIS and send the popup???? Most people who don't patch their server are very inexperienced users, so just sending them a popup wouldn't help (even if they have several thousand of popups on the screen). But to reenable the service, they need at least to do something to start to popagate the virus again.......

Oh, here comes a good idea:

Build a car with, say, 30 sqare meters roof and equip this roof with solar panels. Then use the storage tech they use in the Helios to save power and -whips- you can drive all day and night. You do not need to refuel and your only problem would be to get a parking space - which you do not need anyway ;)

  13. Re:How does it maintain position? on NASA's Flying Wing Breaks 2 Records · · Score: 1

When planes travel at 30000 feet, they make use of the so called jet-steams which have speeds of up to ca 100 mph (anyone have the correct number). Those streams do not reach up to 100000 feet. As far as I know are the winds in those hights relativly low as the air is very thin up there ( as far as I remember from my basic metorlogy education). Anyhow - I don't think NASA would send up such a slow plane when they couldn't maintain position......

  14. Re:That's fine.... on Geography, Laws, and the Internet · · Score: 1

I think it is very easy: The frech authorities can prohibit the sale of NAZI-propaganda if there is a law behind it. This is ofcourse only valid as long as one of the partners (salesman or buyer) is located in France. The same is actually valid for Germany; the book from Hitler is an indexed book, so it is not legal to sell i in Germany (I am not sure if it is also illegal to buy it from abroad).

I think this makes perfectly sense that also the local Yahoo/Amazoon are held to this.
