If I was the UK, I'd say screw that. These people have seen ISIS's website, they've read and heard the news for the past year, they have to have known what ISIS is really about and still they went. To help form a strict, severe, Islamic theocracy, and that's putting it nicely. There's no excuse, none. If they came back to Britain the first thing they'd do is hook up with Anjem "Chowderhead" Choudary.

I'm trying to figure out why this got downvoted. It's an extremely valid point. It seems like the "coalition" did little but target ISIS pickup trucks *until* the Russians came in and started bombing the oil facilities, raising the bar and doing some real damage to ISIS's economic infrastructure. Now the coalition is finally taking out some oil refineries but it's very little very late.

If this sells well and becomes common, how are cops supposed differentiate between this gun and a cellphone from 10 feet away? This can only drive up the number of accidental shootings, causing more riots and violence. It sounds perfect for someone who wants to circumvent their state's concealed or open carry laws. Oh, it's horrible, I know. We deal with them for cable TV. That said, I haven't found Verizon to be one stitch better. When I was to upgrade my DSL modem from them last year (free upgrade), I waited a week for the mail, and they sent a useless DSL filter kit instead, no modem. Ookay, I guess that happens. So I called them back, and could barely understand the guy (Indian, thick accent); they tried again. This time, I got a phone cord. I shit you not. A phone cord. Nothing else. Morons. I called again saying I was ready to drop their crap service, got an american or aussie guy on the phone, I explained everything, and he said for my trouble they'd send their top of the line modem/router for free (normally there's an extra charge for that).
A week later, wow, I actually got what they'd said they send. Finally. And then a month later, $67 showed on my bill for the "free" modem/router. Fuck Verizon.

This. Even immediately after 9-11 we acknowledged it as a "sophisticated" attack that took years in the planning, dry runs, etc..
Many of the lower level terrorists in the ground forces (like in Syria) might be simpletons, but we know they (ISIS, AQ) have seriously knowledgeable businessmen and scientists working for them too. That, combined with their unifying ideology and disciplined organization, is what makes modern terrorists so dangerous.

    Not realistically, you can't.
First, it only housed a few hundred people at any time, and well less than a thousand all together, *most* of which were the most severe of terrorists, not thousands upon thousands of innocent people (along with captured soldiers), and there were no gas chambers, no ovens, and no mass starvation (hunger strikes were willingly initiated by the prisoners, not the guards - in Auschwitz, it would've been the other way around). Prisoners were even allowed a copy of their Q'uran. Waterboarding and sleep deprivation may be torture, but they're at the bottom of the relative scale.. it doesn't compare to the shit the Nazi's pulled, and the majority of prisoners were not waterboarded.

  18. Indeed. I find it amusing that most slashdotters have full confidence in self driving cars, but so many find it hard to believe that a machine could grill a lousy burger and put some condiments on it; ostensibly because they don't like the idea of losing low wage jobs. What about the possibility of autonomous driving cars putting taxi drivers out of a job? If they ever get good enough that, as a passenger, you're not required to have a driver's license (hypothetically), for one example scenario, when you come out of the bar on Saturday night too plastered to legally drive, you won't need to call a taxi, just hop back in the backseat of your car and it'll drive you home.

True, Trump bloviates, he paints with too broad a brush, he's crass, and he's vague (he needs to emphasize "illegal" immigrants, rather than "mexicans") but sometimes, some of his points, like "anchor babies" for example, are observationally valid. It's a real thing. Liberals, and some conservatives, got offended that he used that term, but no one got offended over the actual exploitative practice? That's a horrible reason to have and use a child. It's twisted that people got upset him over calling it what it is, unless one blindly denies it happens. That's PC for you.
I don't think he's a "hater", the word has been overused to the point where "hate" no longer means anything meaningful, it's been corrupted by hyperbole. Hate has come to mean "disagree" these days. Indifference is not hate. Disregard is not hate. Defensiveness and misunderstanding are not hate. It dilutes the danger of the people who actually are hateful, and it's insulting to people are victims of true hate.

I'll just remark that (a) offensive speech is, absent libel or incitement, perfectly legal in the US, but people don't have to listen to you or let you use their property as a forum for that speech; and (b) it's also quite possible to lie using facts by quoting them out of context. In fact that's how the most skillful liars work. But lying is generally protected speech unless it's libel or fraud, so you're safe there.

    1) The majority of organized terrorists operating in the world today, who have the largest organizations in terms of members and funding, and who have done the most damage in terms of cost (property) and lives, self-identify as muslims and explicitly act out in the name of Islam (ISIS, Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Al Nusra Front, Boko Haram, etc..). 2) Asians tend to do really well in mathematics, and academia in general.
