But Fandroids would be the first to scream that Apple is copying Android if Google did it first. Both Apple and Google clearly get ideas from each other, the fanboi cult behavior exists on both sides and really just needs to stop. In this particular case, Apple beat Google to the punch - why didn't Google think of implementing this before, if it's such a commonplace technology? Apple was the one here to invest in it first, and see how the market responded. In other cases, Google was.

Exactly. This is getting to be part and parcel of the neoprogressive movement, it's a growing trend. It's funny to them when they rake the opposition over the coals, and call them various insults or stereotypical sweeping labels: morons, idiots, stupid, bigots, inbreds, homophobes, islamophobes, racists, sexists, etc.., and that's just "free speech"; but it's clearly offensive when anyone lobbies a criticism at the progressives, they label that as "hate speech" and there's a strong push to shut it down and silence it.
That sure sounds like democracy in action to me. (/sar)

OTOH, if you want to find subversive text in all this, I find it a little bit racist to refer to her strictly as a "black" woman, when clearly she's extremely light skinned and only lightly exhibits the typical facial features of african heritage (which is a real thing before the SJ kneejerkers scream racism: http://johnhawks.net/explainer... , as did her parents, which strongly suggests a white lineage as well.
This doesn't matter academically of course, she did what she did because of who she was, not what she was, but why is it if someone has half, or even just 25% african heritage in the US, they're still typically considered simply "black' for all intents and purposes, and it's as if the Caucasian or Sino-Asian heritage is submersed and dismissed? Both Halley Berry and Obama, for example, are equally half white/black but they're flatly considered black by most accounts. Obama was even raised by his US mother and her parents, who were white. Few other than Morgan Freeman seem to comprehendf that Obama is actually 50/50.
This can work either for or against someone actually (as in the case of Obama, supporters and detractors alike), but why don't we just honestly refer to mixed race people as mulatto anymore, or maybe "mixed", when that's the simple truth of the matter?
It seems rather belittling to both races: the white aspect is ignored, and the black aspect is patronized, as the parent post pointed out.

It should be but it isn't going to go down like that, realistically. How long does it take to unfold it? We've got cops on edge already as is it, every week another cop is getting shot and killed because of a few nervous or trigger happy cops that preceded them (or the perception) has caused an outbreak of more violence. It's a viscous cycle, and this isn't going to help. The more cop haters that shoot cops, the more that cops are going to be paranoid and quicker to shoot someone first. Frankly you could pull a regular gun on someone, but they don't know if it's loaded, or if the safety is still on, if the gun is cocked...they're not going to take a chance on that. People don't like to take chances with their lives, and cops aren't superhuman, they're just people too.

However, persistent grammatical errors, like "brake" instead of "break", and a favorite, "Man, I was so waisted.." made repeatedly by the same person .. those can be annoying because the writer appears so uneducated for a supposed adult, but it also depends on context: if they're lambasting someone else for being stupid or uneducated, it's intolerable.

I looked online and found some conflicting info, but ultimately there's a KB and a patch for Office 2010 available (released around the time of Windows8, I believe); after installing the patch and rebooting, Word and Excel now open fine.
