Sounds like Okrut is similar to the early days of Usenet where there was a netiquette newsgroup for this sort of thing. I have experienced the reverse on German boards and the thread started in German, but someone found the topic interesting and he would ask (in German and English) if the folks would mind switching to English. They were nice enough to say "OK, we'll switch to English." There will invariably be some who cannot communicate in English as well, but there are others who would do a translation.
English is one of the unique languages where a lot of people know enough to communicate.
I think the parent hit the issue on the head. Yes, one can post in any language one wants, but there are limits to that type of freedom, as long as you don't restrict someone else's. Personally, I feel these types of people have a lot to learn about being good net citizens. If they don't like the fact that a community is in English only, rather than bitch and label someone a Nazi, maybe ask nicely to get it changed or start their own community. I've been to Brazilian websites and forums where there are two sites: one for English, the other in Portuguese; but the forums are in English. That was decided by the owner, in Brazil.
It's really not obvious when you go to Mozilla.org that there's a patch available. It should be on the right-hand-side instead of down in the middle of the page on the left-hand side. Also, mozilla.org/products/firefox doesn't tell you there's a patch available!! Hopefully, my email to its webmaster will help fix this soon.
1. When I launch FireFox 0.9.1, I get no notification that a critical update is available. 2. After I update, there is no dialog that tells me I need to restart FireFox (and Thunderbird) unlike what the website says. 3. After I downloaded the patch, choosing Tools>Extensions doesn't show that a patch has been applied. Only the ability to search for updates exists, but before I applied the patch, I clicked on it and it says no updates are available.
Add to the fact that on a laptop of mine, even after I have uninstalled all older versions of FireFox, it still says that FireFox 0.9.1 is available when I have installed FireFox 0.9.2
First link contains the original posted and that of Princeton which states 100p/GBP. Of course, the one after that contains more detailed info. http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Pound_Sterling
Looks like these guys impose UL/DL limits. According to DSLreports:
For $49.95/Month - 30Gb + $1.50 for every GB over 30 For $69.96/Month - 55Gb + $1.50 for every GB over 55 For $99.95/Month - 95Gb + $0.80 for every GB over 95
I'm not a rep for SBC nor a competitor to SureWest.
How much do you have to pay for 100Mbps to the shop? I just checked and their residential pages do not list what their package prices are and you have to basically enter all ZIP codes for Sacramento to see if it's available--I've entered something like 10 so far but they are all not available. Their business DSL (1.5Mbps/384kbps) package is $219, compared to something like $75 from SBC. I'm genuinely curious about their prices.
They will upgrade your lines for free but your service will not magically be upgraded to 25Mbps for free. If you thought they may even consider upgrading your service with no charge, come back from FantasyLand.
My location was converted from the traditional central office connection to remote terminals so I am now good for a 3Mbps connection. Under the old scheme, I was maxed out at 1.5Mbps.
Well, maybe SBC did charge me with all these hidden regulation-type surcharges.
1. No ads 2. Email address completion works under FireFox, Safari, IE. Yahoo's completion only works for IE and you need to download a program. 3. You can enable SSL for the entire connection, not just at login.
Of course, there's no virus scanner and no import/export of contacts, but hopefully, Google will be taking care of this.
All-in-all, GMail feels a lot like a standalone app while Yahoo (still) feels more like a web app (press a link/button, and watch the screen refresh).
Although I changed the permissions back to 755 via sudo before I applied the update, it really shouldn't matter because the updater is run as root. Root can read files/directories with permissions 000. Tested the problem after update and it fixes it. Those who rm'ed Help Viewer.app, however...
I've done a clean install of OS X 10.3 and I've included everything except HP/Canon printer drivers and it did it in around 25 minutes on a G4@800MHz and 896MB of RAM. I added X11 and Far East Asian fonts, which is not included in the default. Source drive was a Yamaha 16X CD-RW.
NEC's filing with the FCC says that the 2500 and the 2510 are equivalent electrically, and the only difference is the firmware. It's in the thread within the links. The only trouble with this version of the firmware are:
1. no bitsetting of booktype 2. requires the drive to be a master
Add to this the scarce availability of +R DL media and the fact that the DVD Forum will come out with a -R DL makes me want to wait. I was hoping the DVD+RW Alliance and DVD Forum could cooperate and create one DL standard. But now we have +R double-layer and in the near future -R dual-layer.
Future drives will probably be writing DL media at 4X instead of 2.4 too (equivalent to 8X today).
Not sure how to read the comparison table between Banias and Dothan.
Peak thermal power is 24.5W for Banias and 21W for Dothan. But it looks like average thermal power is 6W for Banias vs. 7.5W. Sleep power, deep sleep power, and deeper sleep power are all higher for Dothan.
Does this mean if you're not doing a lot of number crunching, your battery life will be less than a Banias system? Maybe the cache has something to do with this... whatever. I would be more impressed if the power requirements were lower across the board. And the lower peak doesn't seem that low. What's the best case thermal advantage going from 130nm to 90nm of an identical circuit?
Before you fly off the deep end (oh well, too late), you should read my last sentence of prior post.
As I said, the affect of having your system cracked will be different if your system was just an install w/out any of your personal data files compared to another where you knew the perpetrator had downloaded all your personal documents (financial, personal, love letters, etc.). Unless you have no life (no personal, financial documents) then it probably won't make any difference.
I would slightly disagree with your analogy. Being a victim of these worm attacks is more like having your car keyed. Having your system cracked personally by an individual is more like rape. Especially if the system has a lot of your personal files on it and you know the cracker has gone through/downloaded them. Nonetheless, it's not the same as physically-raped victims.
Let's see. According to CNN, on May 2002, when Gates acquired the $50M shares, stock was worth around $25. Now it's around $32. If he hadn't sold any, that stock would be worth around $64M today. Earn $14M illegally and pay $800K. If I were Gates, I would continue doing this. The important thing is the fine is not an incentive to make Gates from doing something similar in the future.

I think there's a good chance my HP11C scientific calculator's software will last for decades/centuries. Closed source, too.
By the way, Action Packs' licenses are only good for a year from the point of subscription. You need to renew after it expires.
You should use https://gmail.google.com. Your entire session is encrypted.
This doesn't work. I had to manually remove the entries from prefs.js before the new update popup dialog would stop showing up.

Nice to have the fix, but...

This is their standard "canned" response. But from my experience, they do read and have other more appropriate responses.

3 things GMail has won me over Yahoo.
1. No ads
2. Email address completion works under FireFox, Safari, IE. Yahoo's completion only works for IE and you need to download a program.
3. You can enable SSL for the entire connection, not just at login.

It's obvious those who made this change has no clue how to fix it properly. Original coders were probably laid off.

I can just imagine Hotmail and Yahoo executives having a heart attack on that little mistake. :)

sudo chmod 000 /System/Library/CoreServices/Help\ Viewer.app
instead. Of course, you should be using OS X as a non-root user. Root will be able to run the help subsystem without any trouble.
It scares them because the pharmaceutical companies would want to kill them. Those guys have spent billions and haven't produced a cure. :)

In this month's emedia, a Pioneer VP said that the A09 will be the first to support DL burns. No specifics about +R or -R DL.
