    And MIR is not a tin can. It has lasted longer than any american space station so far. And if I really want to be mean, I will also mention that the skylab has failed the first time it was launched, and was removed only 5 or so years later. While mir was in orbit for 15 years.

    Speaking of wirrors...Would someone who has the zip or whatever, put one up. Just so microsofts servers won't register everyones log in

    Oh and one more thing -- to kill medusa just make it look at it's own reflection. Or just set up more mirrors..in which case the shared idea of source will be dead.

    I usually do not respond to trolls, and idiots, but I take personal offence. If russians are just a bunch of drunks, how the heck do they have higher literacy rate then us. Also dan.t confuse rural and urban population. A lot of rurals in Russia are drunks, but then a lot of rurals in US are rednecks (not all of course).

    And attacking Russia is not only dumb, it is a death wish.

    People who don't disconnect are not causing that much problem, they are using perhaps only 1kB/s stream to use their messaging and stuff. Your problem is people like me...multiple downloads of linux iso's, and a lengthy (as in time) ping -f 255.255.255.255 (my modem is a router, or so it seems)

    Don't worry! Russians are pretty ideologically minded, and they will stand up for their best.(Russia actually cares about intellectuals, esp. those that fall in the hands of foreign govts.)

    The last time I checked, they also still have circa 20,000 nukes, most preaimed without advanced navigation (more than missile defense would handle, even if it were complete).

    Expect a call from Putin to US soon. Probably tomorrow morning.

    I like the content and tnhe links, but relying on one source for 75% (or so) of your content makes the conclusion biased.

    Is anybody else concerned that major internet lines would be overloaded. If everybody will start using video streaming, and major downloadage, the routers will start hiccupping.

    And besides, My college has a decent fiber (OC-8 I think) and few people, but still each individual connotion only goes about 200 Kb/s (that's bytes).

    So if you want to increase user end bandwith, make sure the main lines will handle it, or else we will start seeing legislation that will ban downloads of large files (bye-bye linux iso's and divx's), video streaming, and pr0n, just to make sure the routers stay up.

    I am quite certain that the power limit is 1500W PEP. But I dont think anyone would commplain that that is not enough. After all we are not trying to reach the moon. (EME networking might be fun though) The real prob is humidity -- it absorbs the microwave RF.

    Not really. Gaim is actually set up using TOC (I think it is the older protocol, with less features) as a default protocol. That one does not disconnect. If you use Jabber AIM transport or gaim OSCAR, you will be disconnected every 2 mins or so, that was my experience 3 days ago.

    And for the final comment. Even if you could get around the version checking...so what. The servers are gone, by the time that the workaround will be public, the ppl who share would be sharing somewhere else. I suggest other sharing protocols.

    TThen I would not be able to use Windoze to do anything online that will check for passport, which by the way M$ talks, will be everything. Also, the poor MSDN subscribers have already submitted their info to microsoft, they send crap info, their subscribed materials (magazines, OSs, SDKs) get sent to 12 Foo Bar, FooBag, FB 34567. So they lose what they pay for.

    This world will get passported straight to hell for only $200 a license.
