more... How much does he use the systems? What are his comments on the various systems? Big whoop he has a computer with Linux on it. He is Mike Dell for gosh sakes.
I'll have to put on my flame suit for this one only because so many interests are out here defending non-defendable territory.
Why does everyone love CSS for separating content from format.... then turn tail and try to put business logic into the database tier. Try moving a large MS-SQL app that utilized stored procedures to Oracle or MySQL. Tell the wife you'll see her next year!
Presentation - Logic - Storage. Clean and simple. Stored procedures and triggers are nothing more than DB-CRACK. Easy to use in a "pinch" yet keeps you addicted forever.
The concept of moving trigger/stored procedure coding out of the database engine is the scariest thought for Oracle/MS/IBM....yet it works surprisingly well in the freebie MySQL.
This subject is so deep and broad it leaves the mega dollar database companies room for more FUD the HS in NYC in 1905 (check that one out in your database).
Fixing a screw up should be more important than screwing up more. If businesses are being squashed because of "system failure" than the USPO should fix it fast. There could be a bounty paid to citizens that expose an invalid patent. The USPO would get much needed help reviewing patent applications and the bounty should be paid by the patent submitter. That would cause many bogus patent seekers to rethink their shoddy work.
Got my 11 year old a Mindstorm set. It is incredible both in the mechanics and software. I was at Disney World and saw the robotic plastic injection machine and the display panel looked just like the Mindstorm programming interface.
Not to diss what RIM has done (old lego set) but I am surprised that we don't read more about Mindstorms at work.
I've been asking that same question for some time. In the NOVA documentary about this it appeared that the diameter of the magnetic ring at the poles was increasing. The photos seemed to look just like the ozone hole. I wish I could get two similar photos and overlay them.
There is also plenty of history in the fossil record to determine what happened during the past magnetic flips, but I have not read anything about what happened to the climate at those times.
just saw this a Universal Studios Orlando

I chaperoned my daughter's 5th grade class field trip there. The HULK roller coaster uses 2 15,000lb flywheels to store energy and then blasts out electricty when a coaster is launched. This keeps their peak value lower than it would be otherwise. Best part is we got to go to the front of the line after the back lot tour.
I also read that the NYC subways were testing flywheels for breaking energy storage. The flywheels are to be located at the stations, this way the trains didn't have to carry the flywheels.
It is way past time we made flywheels do more work.
It was amazing what they were doing way back then. Before discussing the practicality of this you have to remember that a lot of what they do is teaching people about computers and providing refurbished computers to the poor. So now they get to learn about building super computers, it doesn't make a difference if a new multi-core system can outperform it or not, it's the lesson that is important. And tossing in a bio-diesel generator is precious!
BTW, he was talking of building a supercomputer way back then. So the group has put some thought into this.
If this turns out that it actually has some horsepower I can't wait to hear how it is put to use. The guy who started this is way ahead of the curve. Turning garbage into a self powered supercomputer...kewl!!
I got so tired of explaining it over and over. Ultimate Spyware/Virus Blocker. If you think there is something I need to add or remove then please leave a comment.
My friend is opening up a coffee shop that will have an ap. I will make some copies of Ubuntu for the customers to use.
Now where do I find a dentist for the rootkit I received when I didn't take my own advice:)
well. With sports isn't that the idea? It is truly awesome, you see everybody reaching from their seats to grab items that appear right in front of their eyes, but when the motion gets to fast then it gets blurry. It happens even at their newest 3D movie Mickey's PhilharMagic. All the parks have a 3D movie and I enjoy seeing them over and over because the effects are so awesome and the air conditioning is great!
I thought they needed special theaters to show these movies but the family just saw Chicken Little in 3D at a regular theater. It is impressive. The glasses are just polarized lenses at 90 degree offset.
I don't know if this is the system they are talking about here, but Disney is typically on the cutting edge of this stuff and they have been doing 3D for years. Kodak sponsors the exhibits.
I just created an account at Savern.com for OpenBSD. The site shares the affiliate advertising with the members. If you use this link to join http://savern.com/r=461 then every time you make a purchase you get 75% of the ad revenue and OpenBSD will get credited with 2% of the revenue. Please don't start a flame war on this, they need money and this can help them and also save you money. If anyone joins today I will forward the login/password info (which won't be the same as below because I am sure some nut will change it today) to the openBSD group so they can get any revenue that's generated.
If you do not want to join, but want to buy something from one of the stores you can sign in as user = openBSD@savern.com password = bsd1000. This way openBSD will get the full 75% of the ad revenue.
Someone from Slashdot has already ordered a Nokia770 under the guest account which was nice of them. We picked up a cool $35 on that one.
I just don't get it. Tivo screwed up my lifetime subscription years ago and tried to get me to "buy a lifetime subscription" There was no getting through to them that I already had one that was in place for over 1 year. Funny how it was past the time where they would give me a refund on the box (thieves!). It was a business gift so Icould not produce the receipt nor would I go to the person that game it to me.
I admit at the time I really missed the box but was not about to give in.
But since I have had DishTV -- Free recorder, Brighthouse cable --- Free HD recorder. So where does the need for this crappy TIVO come from?
Hence my screen name. They royally screwed an avid fan at version 1! ME!
I've been rooting for them to go down in flames ever since.
Love my 3 yr old HD-PVR from Brighthouse!
Big Corp mass patent departments will continue to swamp the USPO and now can do it without worry of prior art. Just shoot me now. (only kidding...eh?)

Just wish it wasn't so damn cold.
Good work Citizens.

Considering the NSA were "consulted" by MS, they must have a key. DVD Jon is just the person to "jimmy" the lock on this door.
I wonder how the Chinese and Russians view this "consultation"?

I would get a lawyer. The world has gone insane!

... How much did Novell pay for SUSE?....hummmmm ..... let be think ..... maybe I'll Google it....Yep just as I thought!
Microsoft is on the attack and they have a HUGE war chest! So a quick duck out of the way of this impending doom may just be Solaris. Whooo 'da thunk?
Now my memory is a bit vague
Guess Novell is just trying to bail out of a bad decision.... which of course will ruin one of the top distros.
You have my highest respect. Tell me.
I'm so tired of this I blogged it a while ago

Can't beleive this got accepted when my submission yesterday got rejected. here it is Note: 3.5/gal/day of Diesel from 1 Pig!
Once it is rejected you can't recall it, that is not good. But here is the link: UI researcher makes crude oil from pig manure

I am so tired of repeating my self I blogged the answer Ultimate Virus/Spyware Blocker.
I updated the site with a quote from the article because it only stresses the need for this solution even if you are a "Net Savvy Geek"!

and with the speed increase not see a difference. I have wanted this since my first 286.
