Weak. Since you won't debate and for such a lame reason I consider everything you have writen flamebait. The only thing you apparently wanted to acheive was to piss someone off. Weak. This also shows your fear.
And not to be rude, I do not mean this way, but your post is an emotional reaction his flame. It doesn't do much more than toss some gas on the flame. Maybe my post is doing that too so I will shutup now. But remember, do not feed the animals. =)
any words of advice? I run Mandrake 9.2 and I have a radeon 9600 pro with 256 MB of vram. I continually crap out on x11 when I try to use radeon drivers for Linux. I end up resorting to vesa. I have attempted to update my radeon binary drivers and I get dependancy errors, I fulfill the requirements and try an install again to only get the same freakin error. I will fully admit to being lame and not spending the proper time researching the problem. But since this topic came up I figured I'd ask if anyone has this problem licked and what they did to resolve it. Friendly geeks that feel especially kind, feel free to answer. If not then once I am over my holiday apathy I will figure this out. =)
I have the R9600 Pro with 256MB of ram. I have had zero problems tweaking games under windows xp and it has worked out just awesomely.
Now under Mandrake 9.2 it is a different story. In fact I cannot get it work at all. I am currently using vesa drivers for X. I have tried updating the ATI binary drivers and I must be too freaking dumb because I keep getting a dependancy error and I cant resolve this. I havent spent much time on it but some and I am usually rather adept at having a clue regarding upgrading the necessary drivers to fullfill dependancies but with this I am getting no where fast. I get pissed and give up and use vesa and limp along.
" Since you're not carrying anything dangerous (right?) it will be far faster for you to go with the flaw and accept the default process rather than try to explain your reasons for short-circuiting it."
Indeed.
Personally I think in this situation both MS and Apple would strive to maintain ease of use for both their services. Pissing off the customers will result in a choice of service instead of the potential ala carte usage. And that choice could fall either way. Of course the file types differing and proprietary as they are do push people to pick one service over another. But I think there probably are a decent number of users that are content to use both services and burn cds of their purchases.
Note: I have ignored Roxio Napster. I played around with it and was not impressed. Not to say they won't improve but right now I do not think they are solid.
Sygate Personal is a good free product IMHO. I do like that it alerts you of all unapproved traffic even those initiated by a windows service, for example.
I do not consider myself a Macuser, or a windows user. I do not owe allegiance to any one school. All computer schools of thought have made great advancements and massive blunders. I think of computers as devices.
Some devices get me hot and excited. A bling bling old school vette in kick ass condition makes me wet, its true. I have personel taste in things. I am NOT a zealot though because I think I can get more for what I need by being open minded and making good picks. Once was that was a Mac back in the day. Then quickly a Windoz box had to be used to get shiznit done. Now I have a windows heavy network but it is home to a G3 OS X box, another G3 MacOS 8 box, Mandrake 9, Windows 98 on an old tiny shit box, 95 on a really old laptop...
My wife uses Win2k for her main beast until she buys her new Dell this week or next. And I use a Dell running Xp sp1 with lots of upgrades added on, PLUS my newest toy, a Sony Vaio laptop. It rocks and completes my needs.
Anyway, I wanted to say all that shit, sort of like the calling of the generations on the Klingon home world. I use devices I don't worship Dells, or Suns, or Apples.
So I feel my little test of the windows iTunes service is balanced and fair. I thought it was very solid and I am very pleased. As part of the test I bought an album. Heh maybe the name was ironic... A Farewell to Kings by Rush.
My only concern is that I own a Rio Cali. What am I to do with this AAC format? Found some converters but have not played with them yet. Any advice is welcome. I bought my Cali at BestBuy with the 3 year plan, so I can trade it up for an iPod if I wish.
What say you?
I am too lazy at this late our to use formating or spellcheck...so this comes to you raw...
thanks.

I passed English and continued on to gain a Master's degree. I am not an English major and I do certainly have flaws in my use of the written word.
No, my post requires the reader to connect those three words with elipses in between in order to themselves complete the thought. For the dullards amongst you, I was saying to the troll "That's the pot calling the kettle black." Understood?
Wow, a great post from someone that has English has a fourth or fifth language, or maybe from someone either drunk of his ass, or too damned lazy to spell check and use correct grammar.
The thing is, I feel exactly the same way. Imagine" "reading/. posts in near boredom numbness...sights the Charm of Making! Suddenly remembers an awesome movie, feels complelled to tell wife who is on a computer right beside me...wife shrugs and fains a smile...posts.sig fan post..."
And there ya go...I'm thinking machines are evil, I need to go live in the woods in tent for a few weeks.
No need to apologize. I'm excited to see/read the depth in you. Being exposed to all the trolling and flaming here at/. obviously has impacted us both.
I can see where you are coming from. The gay-apple link is much exploited. I just meant to jest and I knew I was probably stepping on some raw nerves somewhere out there but hoped it'd be disregarded by those who found it lame.
Zpok, you are an ass. You flip out over a joke that is entirely harmless. You know nothing of me: you do not know what computers I have owned, used, prefer. You do not know my sexual preference(s) or aversions. You behave in your response like a 12 year old script kiddie. Your response (retaliation) was personal for you and I hoped that your neurosis/affliction was eased by posting. However, it isn't rational to behave like such a child in response to such a non-event. Not even on/.
If you need assistance with anger management I suggest you contact a counselor, clergy person, or mental health professional sooner rather than later before such irrational responses causes permanent damage to your personal/professional life.
Now that the Macintosh has joined the ranks, "don't ask, don't tell" is in full force.
(it is just a joke macaddicts...I support macs as part of my job...)
Three years ago I routinely purchased computers, parts, expansions, software, and so on. Though I still by software and maintenance supplies this is the longest I have gone without purchasing a new cpu, more, better vid card, or new computer. I have no plans to do so in the near future. I am currently hunkering down and getting the best out of what I got right now.
This is speaking as a consumer.
I believe other consumers, and perhaps businesses are in a similar mode right now.
A middle of the road G4. You will have Apache, Perl, PHP, ease of use, and configuration...pop for AppleCare. You will have a box that will serve you well and is upgradeable. That's if you want to spend 2500 - 3000 or so.
I am not a mac phreak but for this use it would be a good way to spend those kinds of bucks.
I honestly would build a PC running RH or Mandrake and go at it that way...but you have to figure someone else will inherit this box someday..I presume.
The post to whom I was replying wanted to know if Safari will be available for an outdated version of OS X. It will not. I was trying to make the poster feel better about upgrading to a more current version of OS X. Else he will be stuck with a defunct version of IE for life...
clearer?
I do desktop support for a middle-sized University (around 30,000 total computer users). I support all client OSes and because I have some past experience with mac administration I get a lot of the mac support. As such I run OS X. It is not only safe to upgrade to Jag, it really is a vast improvement. Many bugs have been worked out and the speed of the GUI and the smoothness of the experience is vastly improved. In this regard you will do well to upgrade. Additionally, it isn't Apple's style to retrofit OSes. Maybe some in the Gil days but with Jobs? Hell no. If you Safari you're gonna have to upgrade. To be honest you will have an improved experience if you do upgrade and that's not hype or BS.
What were the conditions of your contract? Were you told you would routinely work 50 hours a week? Are you working 50 hours a week because of your own inability to get what needs done that others would complete in a 40 hour week? My contract says 40 hours a week with occassional overtime. If your contract is like mine and you work 50 hours a week most of the time then I have a phrase for you:
Maybe I am being pedantic but isn't spam inappropriate in and of itself? What would appropriate spam consist of? An advertisment for free juvenille diabetes screening?
