that some of us who watched the first season of the first series in it's first run, before reruns, are still alive and kicking. Of course back then we watched it on black and white T.V. My brothers and I each got a plastic model of the Enterprise for Christmas. Wonder whatever happened to them? The models, not my brothers.
I find in taking to non-scifi geeks that while everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, has seen a movie(s) or tv shows based on Richard Matheson's work no one seems to have heard of him. It's really odd.
I can't speak to the subject of full-time van living but if you interested in converting a $2,500 white Ford van into an RV here's my postings on the subject.
Step one. Bought the van
It's about half the height of the proposed tower. The smokestack had a massively wicked updraft at the ground level without any additional heat gathering skirting. There were signs on the doors into the stack warning you to not put you hands near the edges of the doors. The suction made the heavy metal doors slam shut and would take your fingers off if you weren't careful.
When the power plant was built the answer to air pollution concerns was to build giant smoke stacks so you sent the smoke so high into the atmosphere it would be someone else's problem.

If he hadn't spent the day talking into his coat sleeve maybe they wouldn't have spotted him.

After all it is Slashdot.
But I also don't think it shows my brother any disrespect by posting the story. As a fellow geek I'm sure he would have been thrilled to be mentioned. And he was as much a wise-a** as anyone else posting here.

I figured that most of the people reading this haven't had the chance to watch someone die of smoking related cancer. While it's painful enough to watch someone slowly die over 9 months nothing compares to the final few weeks. By then it's into the bones and they can't give you enough pain killers. Then it's just days and days of non-stop pain and discomfort while you wait for death. It's worse than you can ever imagine.
One day my chromatically challenged brothers and I will rise up and take control. Then the changes will begin. Let's see how you "It's not light blue, it's teal" people handle traffic lights with three lens but only two colors, one of which is white so it matches the street lights at night. Emergency vehicles that might actually only be tow trucks and smarmy calls from the network engineer "The color of the led will change on the ethernet card if it's working". Maybe for you rainbow head but not for me. Once we're in charge there will be be other changes like no more colorized movies. Hell we just might black and whiterize them all just for spite. Just you wait. On that proud day we will hoist our many banners and just like always we will hear you say, as you always say, "You know that doesn't match your socks, right?"

A few years ago I worked at a power plant that had at one time the worlds tallest smokestack (now fifth) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitchell_Power_Plant.

As an added benefit this gives you geek street cred in the afterlife since he's now the top Google response for searchs like "computer urn" or "Geek Funeral" and will probably hold that position for some time.
