You have proven your intelligence time and time again.
You are by far, the BEST troll I have ever seen on slashdot. You have never failed to stay in character (a self-deluded character that would NEVER be possible in real life outside of a mental ward). Thank you sir for the fantastic entertainment. You are truly one in a million!
1) Nobody knows what might happen if these pigs somehow were released into the wild. A new species of 'super-pig' could potentionally cause wisespread damage if they escaped captivity.
these pigs will most likely be confined to labs 2) Pigs are dirty, they typically roll in their own feces. This is not an appropriate animal to use for 'human' organs.
Um the organs come from the inside of the pig 3) Using Pigs in such a fasion is inhumane. Nobody knows the pain these pigs could live with because we have set off certain gene sequences we should not have.
And I bet you think eating chicken or fish is inhumane too? I enjoy my healthy balenced diet and I look and feel great 4) Pigs are not kosher, and Jewish or Moslems would not be able to benefit from these advances. That's alienting 1/5 of the planet right there from being able to benefit from this.
Some people don't believe in blood tranfusions either, but most intelligent people have abandoned obscure religious beliefs! 5) We are tampering with God's work. Pigs were created perfect the way they are, as are we. Toying with genes is tampering with God's perfect work and SHOULD not be done under any sane principals.
I am not religions, and I will take my pig heart and live while you will die!
As an assistant member of the security team of a large fortune 500 company, I have discovered a new form of terrorism stemming from the deepest underground of the Internet. A site catering to hackers, communists and anti-Americans called Slashdot.org has created a new type of denial-of-service attack known as 'the Slashdot effect'. This attack has been used against what are seen as the enemies of the 'Open source movement' which include many large American companies such as Microsoft as well as many American media companies such as Time-Warner-AOL. The Slashdot Effect could have a potentially crippling effect on the American computer industry and I feel it is justified to offer my own advice on this problem.
What is the Slashdot Effect?
The Slashdot Effect (also known as Slashdotting) is a new form of denial-of-service attack stemming from the site Slashdot.org. Once they find a 'target' (whether it be a large media company or small personal homepage) the URL of the site is posted on the front page of Slashdot.org. Members of this site attempt as quickly as they can to follow these links and overload the target server. This causes the 'target' website to slow to a grinding halt before going offline. It can sometimes take days or even weeks for the site to recover from such a surge of traffic, and often the servers can be damaged beyond repair (that is, they cannot be fixed with a simple defrag!).
Who is normally the target of the Slashdot Effect and how is it done?
Many American companies have already been attacked by the Slashdot Effect. Targets often include news sites such as the New York Times as well as well as large American companies such as Intel. Sites that criticize the open-source movement are a prime target. For example, lets say an American media website such as the London Times does a review of a little known operating system known as Linux. Linux is an operating system developed by a hacker from communist Finland, which is based on code stolen from an American operating system known as Unix. It was created in cooperation with a communist group known as g.n.u. (Which stands for Glorified Novelty Unix) and is generally unusable by non-hackers. Obviously since it is such an archaic and unstable operating system compared to those made by American companies such as Microsoft it would get a bad review on the London Times. Once a Slashdot member discovers this honest review the URL would be posted on the front page of Slashdot.org. A flood of users would follow the link to the site and bring the server to a grinding halt. Since most of these users are terrorists they would probably have ads disabled using European hacking software. This would mean a potential loss of thousands of dollars worth of ad revenue. To top it off, members of Slashdot.org often plagiarize the articles and post it on illegal mirrors, furthering the loss of ad revenue. Members of Slashdot are rewarded for plagiarizing in the form of 'Karma', a form of hacker currency, on Slashdot.org.
What can I do to avoid the Slashdot Effect and how would I deal with it if it happened?
The easiest way to avoid the Slashdot effect is to refrain from posting anything about any open-source software, especially Linux. Focus your website on fine American companies such as Microsoft. You can also set up your server to reject any links from Slashdot.org, something many people have done. If you think your site is being attacked by the Slashdot Effect, contact the authorities immediately and report this act of terrorism. The penalties against hacker/terrorists are stiff and you can feel confident that the perpetrators of this terror will be punished in the harshest possible means.

what is the point of this? with all the stresses in life after september 11, building a pc should not be one of them. That is why there are companies that build preassembled systems. Its a novel idea, but so far DELL and Compack have shown that it CAN be profitable. Macontosh has pushed the idea further by selling preassembled systems that cant be upgraded called apple computers. They are call apple computers because you throw them out when you are done using it similar to an apple. Every year you buy a new system and dont have to bother with the stress of upgrading, its a very successful idea. Another new development is having windows preinstalled on your computer instead of having to buy it. So far this has been a very successful approach and microsoft is pushing to have windows sold with ALL computers.
Maybe building systems and installing OS's was great in the 1970's but its time to get with the times and buy a new pre-assembled computer.
...is that the bug has apparently been a known one for months, and still hasn't been repaired.
WOW just like how they complain on this site about Microsoft not patching their OS or browsers as soon as bugs are found. BUT nobody is loudly complaining when its your precious open-source software that is not getting its dose of security updates. I suggest you stop using mozilla as their security seems to be just as bad as microsofts, and you should switch to a secure browser such as MCSA mosaic.
The USA will never adopt wind power as long as it's run by a right wing oil tycoon. Bush has no respect for the environment at all, and americans continue to destroy the earth with their garbage.

Lets talk about Jon Carmack. Jon is the legendary programmer of such classic PC games as Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke nukem 3d, Quake 1, 2, and 3, unreal, and the upcoming doom3. Jon has single handedly created the genre known as the first-person-shooter. He has also popularized the Direct3d 3d format over Microsoft's competing Opengl format, as well as caused public interest in 3d cards when he first released accelerated quake for the s3 virge chipset. Jon carmack has redefined gaming on PC's.
Now stop for a moment and think... What would have happened if Albert Einstein had worked creating amazing pinball games instead of creating the theory of relativity? Humanity would suffer! Jon carmack is unfortunately doing JUST THIS, using his gifts at computer coding to create games instead of furthering the knowledge of humanity. Carmack could have been working for NASA or the US military, but instead he simply sits around coding violent computer games.
Is this a waste of a special and rare talent? Sadly, the answer is yes.
Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Not only is Jon carmack not contributing to society, he is causing it's downfall. What was the main reason for the mass murder of dozens of people in columbine? Doom. It's always the same story... Troubled youth plays doom or quake, he arms himself to the teeth, he kills his classmates. This has happened hundreds of times in the US alone. Carmack is not only wasting his talents and intelligence; he is single-handedly causing the deaths of many young men and women. How does he sleep at night?
Carmack is a classic example of a very talented and intelligent human being that is bent on total world destruction. Incredibly, he has made millions of dollars getting people hooked on psychotic games where they compete on the internet to see who can dismember the most people. I believe there is something morally wrong when millions of people have computerized murder fantasies, and we have Jon Carmack to thank. Carmack has used his superior intellect to create mayhem in society. Many people play games such as quake so much that their minds are permanently warped. A cousin of mine has been in therapy for 6 months after he lost a 'death match' and became catatonic.
It is unfortunate that most people do not realize how much this man has damaged all the things we have worked hard for in America. Jon has wasted his intelligence, caused the deaths of innocent children, and warped this country forever. To top it off, he got rich in the process and is revered by millions of computer users worldwide. Perhaps one day the US government will see the light and confine Jon Carmack somewhere with no computers so he can no longer use his intelligence to wreak havoc on society.

Good luck and God bless America!
The Slashdot Effect: A new form of terrorism.
Version 1.0 by Anonymous Pancake
Members of Slashdot are rewarded for plagiarizing in the form of 'Karma', a form of hacker currency, on Slashdot.org.

what is the point of this? with all the stresses in life after september 11, building a pc should not be one of them.
Maybe building systems and installing OS's was great in the 1970's but its time to get with the times and buy a new pre-assembled computer.
hey do any web log sites still use slash? it seems most just use scoop now, I guesse most people realize slash is fucking terrible.
...is that the bug has apparently been a known one for months, and still hasn't been repaired.
WOW just like how they complain on this site about Microsoft not patching their OS or browsers as soon as bugs are found. BUT nobody is loudly complaining when its your precious open-source software that is not getting its dose of security updates. I suggest you stop using mozilla as their security seems to be just as bad as microsofts, and you should switch to a secure browser such as MCSA mosaic.
stretch that anus baby
