Nintendo controller - a let down???

    You gotta be kidding.

It is the only innovative thing that has come from a hardware company in years.

So while my XBox 360 sits there, playing the same ol' madden game and overheating, I can't help but thinking I'll be sitting there playing the revolution with the new controller trying out all these new and innovative games, and as usually is the case with nintendo, not being able to stop.

I wish these guys would stop measuring things in terms of 'chips'. I actually think that 3D has ruined the play of many game types, especially madden. I remember on the first Sega, the guys were nice little sprites, that you could see and understand abstractly. Now, with the 3D guys, you can't really see what is going on - the game is much harder to play and not as all as fun. Same thing with Hockey. But you know, boy it looks great doesn't it!!! Game sure is nice to look at, just not as fun.

Arg, it is fun sounding like an old man ranting about games.

    3. Cost effective - you don't feel dirty after having to buy a bundled 360 with crappy launch titles.
    4. You can actually buy one.

The hype bubble of the 360 has burst for me. I was psyched to get one, but alas, Microsoft forgot to make enough. And now, I dunno, it seems better to wait to see what the PS/3 is like, or better yet, wait for the Revolution which actually seems to have some interesting things about it, unlike the usual 'now with more chips and better looking sequels!

So, intead of a 360, I bought a DS, and you know what, the damn thing rocks.

And then replaced with a pseudo hip game channel, that feels like it is made by people who don't know games, hosted by actor rejects, and is generally more insulting than an MTV Xbox Launch Show.

I pressume this guy was just a pro-business dude. These types of cases in the end always come down to one thing, and it is not freedom of speech, it is freedom of business.

I will say, that as a parent, it does suck trying to raise kids with the media and businesses constantly trying to sell them crappy stuff. So this has everything to do with Parental Control, in that parents basically want some control.

Why doesn't the game industry find other channels for the X-rated stuff? Why is GTA marketed to kids? Why aren't there parental controls on a game that would limit some of the harder edge stuff? Also, if I was a cop, I'd be pissed too. Why are all these kids playing games that shoot cops?

I mean, have kids, it just becomes common sense.

Believe it or not, I'm a liberal. And the thing that worries me is that the game industry, by ignoring common sense, is in the end just making the right wing more powerful.

Reading the comments on this board, many people are swayed that this is a freedom of speech issue, or a parenting issue, when it really isn't... or rather, the companies involved would love for you to believe that.

All entertainment companies makes lots of money off of kids, especially the game companies, and the less parental involvement, the better.
