That's dissapointing... I had imagined something like a touch sensitive screen that you'd write on with a stylus that had a sidebar with different UML or ER datagrams that you could drag onto the screen... Like a touch screen version of DIA... Pity, that would be nifty as all heck...
Wonder if they'll port the Doom process manager to it.
Congratulations! You killed init!

Scuse me... Yeah, Hi... I don't know if you noticed this, but YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY SLASHDOTTER. You're not paying for content that you provide. You're paying for the ability to see what other people are thinking, what other people believe. You are also being given a forum with which to share your beliefs.
If you did fail to notice this, then don't worry about paying for a subscription... You have other needs to attend to first...
Most other personal harddrives (archos, terapin mine, et al) are usb. It is my understanding that you are paying for the ability to load your entire mp3 collection in less time than it takes to listen to it.
Well DUH! EVERYBODY knows that Hitler had a PS2! er... wait... No, but he watched the Dukes of Hazard! er... He read Mad Magazine!!! no... Well, he had a moustache!! NO MORE MOUSTACHES!! Won't someone please think of the children?
I was running Morpheus and waiting for some very large downloads to complete. I never turned my box off. I'm still downloading the same files just as quickly, but am unable to search the network.
I love slashdot. To me slashdot is worth 1 dollar per month regardless of pageviews. This seems reasonable, and even could be considered *GASP* a good deal! 5 dollars per month (and restricted # of pageviews) is outrageous. Taco, slash isn't the only site out there. If the other 10 sites I love enough to check daily started charging 5 bucks a month, I'd be dolling out a quarter of a car payment for websites. I'm layed off, I'm driving a POS dodge, I still love slash enough to give you money, just not that much. Leave the ads, charge me a buck, open up a donation bin. Don't add any value, don't tinker, you'll fuck everything up. (No offense intended hah). Anyhow, this comment has been posted so late, that I doubt anyone will even see it.
Mabye he was addressing the stringed section of the orchestra. I've heard that IPv6 will provide an address space large enough so that even orchestral instruments will have their own ip!
"For only $200.00 and your consent to send you directed advertising via mail, you can get a brand new laptop computer (1 GHz, 20Gb, blah blah)..." It's similar to the Aizohn (sp?) scam that was going on a few months ago. What amazes me isn't that so many people fell for it, but that THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT!!!!
I have a co-worker who sent a check, which was cashed. Then he noticed that in his statement, identical checks were being sent through even though he hadn't written any. All he can do is recover the amount for the checks he didn't write. The first $200.00 is gone, and so is the company.
On the other hand, if that 90% of the people, instead of ignoring the flyers, punched the flyer-hander-outer in the nose and burned down the flyer-hander-outer's store, you'd see a sharp decline in flyer-hand-outism.

Attempting to set a new and better balance by turning hordes of plaintiffs' lawyers loose on the software industry is going to improve the situation of users about as well as turning lawyers loose on the tobacco industry has helped smokers.
I would like to present a counter point your argument (I don't disagree). Once I was presented evidence of the tobacco industry lying outright to avoid liability for their product, I quit smoking.
Freudian? You mean you dislike disabled people? Can't say I blame you, they get all the good parking spots, and they can shoplift at will...

I'd be happy to see a list of cases where individual freedom was held in higher esteem than corporate interests.
I hold the list in my hands as we speak. Coincidentally, this list is identical to the list of:
Homeless minorities I've met while Yachting.
Current Legally elected Presidents of the United States.
Satisfied Enron Stock Holders
Clearly flamebait...
Clearly true.

What is that, a suggestion?
Other than the Terapin Mine, Archos Jukebox, those overpriced zip disk pens, and iPod, what other portable usb storage drives are there?
The terapin mine has been around for a while, and stores twice as much data as an ipod. The Archos jukebox also has this functionality.
(Yes, I'm that guy... The one that replies to his own post... )

We have a tragedy of the commons situation with only 9 states pursuing the matter doing the work of the other 41.
Can you explain this further? (Or someone else more familier with the tragedy of the commons document?)
Attempting to set a new and better balance by turning hordes of plaintiffs' lawyers loose on the software industry is going to improve the situation of users about as well as turning lawyers loose on the tobacco industry has helped smokers.

Sadly the answer is dependent upon who the lawyer, that represents the homeowner, thinks has more money to put in his pocket.

We are Americans, this is our way.
My limited understanding is that this was actually suggested by the bnetd development team to Blizzard. Blizzard responded with the lawsuit.
