    Would you PLEASE, for the love of all that is good and holy, learn the freakin' difference between "communist" and "totalitarian".

    A country can be communist AND totalitarian, but that doesn't make those two things interchangeable.

    The worst part of the whole thing is that China is a capitalist's dream, cheap labor, who have no chance to redress grievances. No wonder we can't compete.
    To those who say that economic capitalism leads to democracy, we'll just have to wait and see. I'm not holding my breath.


    See, China is moving away from communism, but not from totalitarianism. You've noticed that capitalism doesn't magically bring about the end of totalitarian states: Please adjust your vocabulary accordingly.

    It can't be a controversy if they all agree, now can it?

    Don't exagerate. I know of no global warming scenario that predicts the extinction of humanity.

    Yeah... well.. snopes... what do you expect.
    Putting a true/false/unknown on things that can only really be determined to a certain order of accuracy is bound to be riddled with innaccuracies and half truths.


    But this claim, the claim that Al Gore said "I invented the internet", is simple to determine. You look at the transcript of when he's supposed to have sid it, you see it's not what he said, done.

    J.F.K. took the initiative in creating the lunar landers. He didn't invent them, and it is completely unreasonnable to think otherwise.

    I have always detested that about the James Bond series.

    I just tell myself that "James Bond" was never that guy's real name. Nor was it the real name of the James Bond before him, and when he dies, it won't be the real name of the next James Bond.
    To me, it is not the same role with a different actor, to me it is a secret identity that is granted to one special agent every generation, and then he's relaced with another kid with the same psych profile and skill set later on, and everyone stays quiet about it.

    Don't you remember thinking "Oh, an Alien VS Predator would be neat!" or "Man, I can't wait for the Matrix sequels!" or "Hurrah! SW: Episode One comes out today!"?

    Videogames are neat. Movies are neat.
    Put 'em together and you have crap. Either a crappy videogame based on a movie or a crappy movie based on a game. Stop deluding yourself, it's not healthy.

    11:30pm: Eyes ooze out of our sockets, bedsores open on our asses.


    But what about second breakfast? And elevensies? And the 4 o'clock snack? and at five, you simply must have tea and biscuits and jams and jellies and muffins...

    And I assume that you are going to drink beer and smoke hobbit's weed throughout the day, of course.

    Sounds like a fun, light day : )

    I wonder how this shapes the thinking of a native Choktaw speaker - for example, if George tells Fred something using the "definitely true" tense, will Fred be more likely to swallow it without thinking than if the "uncheck third-party" tense were used?

    And if so, would that mean that an unscrupulous person would be more likely to use the "definitely true" tense?


    If he votes for Bush, yes.

    If he's using the damn grammar correctly, he'll use the "unchecked third party" when discussing an unchecked third party's information, no matter how much the other guy believed it.
    People believe all kind of crazy shit, doesn't mean aliens really did take them up to meet Jesus on Mars.

    Would marketing types use it exclusively?

    Not exclusively, they'd still use pretty people and shiny things too, but they'd never use the other tense!
