    First of all, if you don't like TV and don't watch TV, good for you. I do watch TV, and I'm not ashamed of it.
    Secondly, the terrorist did win. They made things go boom, people were terrorised. Get over it, they won, and no matter how much more civilians you kill than they, they still won, its not a football game where the score counts.

    And since you qualify Buffy as "inane, mindless televison", its clear that your not watching it leads to you not being informed enough to have an opinion that counts. Seriously, its not inane, its smart, and you are a troll...why the hell am I taking the bait from a troll?

    Everybody knows you don't put your name on somebody else's work. If I went to MIT and did that, I would be thrown out of school.

    And I guess that the united states were created by god from clay? No european country ever had to, you know, send a few people over, a couple of beasts of burden here and there, a few tools...none of that?
    No military aid in your old wars or anything...no european country ever gave the US a giant statue to put in its harbor...the thing was there when you arrived, right?

    When the US helped its european fiends, it was 1) looking out for its own interests and 2) REPAYING A DEPT, yup, they don,t owe you, you owed them.

    And I guess from your "tone" that you feel that if european counties ever dare to make the US look bad by being more advanced that you are, you will feel the need for revenge and hope (or get the CIA to help) that a blody war kills 'em? Jeez...good christians indeed!

    Seriously, I would be very disapointed if a movie about such an accident didn't portray the people in this situation as annoyed enough to swear. Can't figure why people are so bent on hidding the realities of speech...

    Well, I for one am glad they are editing it! There was some very offensive material in that filthy movie! I hope they are getting rid of that rocket...you do know what its shaped like? Don't you?
    And all that dirty talk about inserting hoses in air filters, using duct tape no less! The movie will be much better without it.

    Science, fast foods, hairdressing, driving, medecine, tooth brush manufacturing...

    As long as the researcher is not liable for being found guilty of a crime in a court of law, there is no bounds to what may be researched.

    Well, we're pack animals. We need to keep our family alive or we'll die too (in nature, in civilised society its a bit more complex than that). Of course, some human cultures took to eating people from neighboring villages, eating "their own kind", but not their kin. And then there are the psychos...they don't find it distastefull, but they aren't "normal", so they don't count ;- )

    Do we ignore the potential to test our theories on hapless and helpless apes or do we go with our questions unanswered. Between you an' me, I'll guess that the pocket-protector types will figure out a way to test on our ape brethren.

    Any supporting argument with the words "everyone knows" is unbeatable! That's like, a super unblockable debate move!     Seriously, saying "the mistake is commonly used so its not a mistake" is very very lame. Yes, the dammage is done, yes, there are millions of people who's mind will never be crossed by the blasphemous thought that the US isn't America, just part of it. But its still wrong.
    Pretty sad really. And sadder still: people will defend this as if it were a sacred cause.

    Actually, the people at Nasa don't have any problems wih it, they use the international unit system. Its the subcontracters that still use the old english imperial units and mess things up.

    Ya know, for a country so bent up on not being subjects of the crown...people do hang on to the old ways quite a bit.

    Fines for spamming (of all types) need to be increased, with the possibility of jail time.

    Harder fines, sure, but jail time? No.

    I don't think putting people in jail for every stupid thing is a good idea. In fact, I think there are many "crimes" that should not be punished by jail time (how many pot heads really deserve to be in jail, seriously?).
    Rapist, murderers, muggers, all those people deserve to be taken away from society for a while. But minor crimes, as annoying as they might be, don't warrent imprisonment. You could make 'em do community service, make 'em bankrupt with huge fines, but don't waste precious jail space for small things.

    Plus, do you really want the spammers of the future to have aquired skills like fashionning weapons out of toothbrushes or how to take advantage of a dropped soap in the showers? You'd just make 'em angrier...although maybe the spam about penis enlargement would go away. ;- )

    Its a fine for not respecting the law and continuing to illegally fax-spam even after having been duly warned.

    and its not just the paper: Its the toner, employee time to dispose and sift through all that crap, the busy fax-line preventing you from sending or recieving legitimate faxes.

    Email spam is annoying and a bit time consumming, but on top of that fax-spam cosume ressources and reduce the availability of the fax machine for legitimate purposes.

    At my old job we got dozens of faxes a day, most of them spam. We would often not recieve important documents faxed to us by clients because the machine was out of paper due to all the adds it spewed out.

    The fine is not a compensation for those hurt, its a punitive measure meant to make it stop.

    You think they got so rich by playing fait and charging a resonable price for their products and giving back a reasonable amount to the creators? I don't!
    They've been "stealing" from every single one of their client by charging them prices much higher than the actual value of the product because they are in an oligopoly position and are price-fixing their products.

    Stealing from a thief is ok. Hell, its poetic justice.

    And they blame the internet of the fact that they lost 6% in CD sales...can Enron and WorldCom and all the other big buisnesses who are actually going bankrupt also blame napster for their trouble? That'd be convenient...I mean, its not as if there was a decline in all commercial activities, not a depression. there weren't any terrorist attacks scaring the shit out of everybody or anything...its ALL naspter's fault...
