  1. Deep Sea Exploration on Every Species on Earth · · Score: 1

    Every time we venture into the black depths we find many new, interesting creatures. If we calculate how much of the earth is still unexplored and how many new life forms we find every time we venture into one of these areas I'm sure you can see where they get these numbers.

    Until we find new means of finding these animals and cataloging them I think that the 25 year estimate is quite optimistic. Why is it that we havent caught or even seen a living giant squid. For myself I find this type of research fasanating.

    Sorry for the spelling :)

    Hey I left school in 98 and I'm still friggin broke! No where near what I was in col but hey broke is broke. And what is this about college students being the worst case. I don't buy that. I know that when we were in college we pirated games and stuff but hell I know people now who will pirate anything just cuz they can get their hands on it.

    We put all of our pirated and cracked games on the CS lab computers and would play WarCraft2, Starcraft, Hex, and Duke Nukem. I still remember yelling across the lab at my friends with a giant chicken egg loaded up ready to go. "I'm gonna get you Mutha F***er".

    "RULE 3.4 FAIRNESS TO OPPOSING PARTY AND COUNSEL
    A lawyer shall not:

    (a) unlawfully obstruct another party's access to evidence or unlawfully alter, destroy or conceal a document or other material having potential evidentiary value. A lawyer shall not counsel or assist another person to do any such act;

    (b) falsify evidence, counsel or assist a witness to testify falsely, or offer an inducement to a witness that is prohibited by law;"

    "Documents and other items of evidence are often essential to establish a claim or defense. Subject to evidentiary privileges, the right of an opposing party, including the government, to obtain evidence through discovery or subpoena is an important procedural right. The exercise of that right can be frustrated if relevant material is altered, concealed or destroyed. Applicable law in many jurisdictions makes it an offense to destroy material for purpose of impairing its availability in a pending proceeding or one whose commencement can be foreseen. Falsifying evidence is also generally a criminal offense. Paragraph (a) applies to evidentiary material generally, including computerized information."

    Because of these attacks there is a new version of Morpheus that you must download in order to use the P2P system. They state in the message that this software was forced to be released early and I can say that the new software isn't what I was expecting. At this point in the P2P lifecycle I don't believe that this is doing any good.

    Wheather or not MusicCity is going to press charges against the attacks that rendered software useless this comes at a bad time. Any company that forces another companys software to go belly must be looked at closely.

This is the same as it is in the programing world. I have heard people in this thread say why use C. Because if its the right tool to get the job done then use it. Don't get so caught up in one language, even a new one, that you make yourself a dino.

    A good C book is always a great find. I find myself going through kernel code or drivers or as of late the netsnmp code going hmmm.. I've seen this before but exactly what is going on.

    Refrence material is always good..no matter what.

    What I would love to see is a thread on what books most coders have found to be the most useful, what they have on there shelves.

I had a friend who sold some code to a company that wanted to use it in one of their products and as soon as the school found out they demanded all money. Same for a code snipit that was going to be published in a book. The school found out and demanded that the school be in the credits not the student.

With all the high tech moving in the rent has jumped up 4-800 dollars for a two bedroom and the jump is even higher for a 1 bedroom for some reason.

    I guess the moral to this rant is that no matter where you go to after a while its the exact same as where you left. The small town life doesnt remain the small town life for long as soon as the town fathers realize that they can make tons of cash off the tech industry.
