Just go somewhere expensive. That way you're pretty much assured that the breeders can afford a baby sitter. Unfortunately this doesn't work on holidays.

One time my little sister stood on a chair in the middle of Three Forks (expensive Dallas area restaurant) and yelled, asking whether anyone was missing a fork as she clearly had too many.

I had a Sony with a huge brick around the same time frame likely.

The new Lenovo ones about the same in volume as a MacBook power supply with a different design. The big part is in the middle of the cord, so as to keep the end the size of a say a lamp plug. It's black and boxy, not unlike the machine itself. No appreciable weight.

I got a T60 right before Vista came out (fire sale to make room for Vista laptops, despite the fact that the ones in the shop were perfectly Vista capable (aero and all that works)). $1300 bucks + $70 for 2GB RAM when I finally installed Vista. I guess it's bare bones but IMO it's got one more core in the processor than you actually need on a portable.

Not only that but because of the trackpoint you can actually keep your hand in the middle of the keyboard when not typing. Try getting your arm back to the touchpad on a small plane and you'll see what I mean.

Sounds like they were trying very hard to make it look like she was compensated.

One time I called sprint about my $100 refund they owed me. I'm offered 100 free minutes for my troubles. Later I call about the refund, and they claim the 100 free minutes were compensation instead of the refund. Unbelievable. This is probably the most morally bankrupt practice I've ever seen out of a large corporation.

Short-order cooks (I'm not sure if that's what you meant) are payed better than anyone else in the restaurant. It's a high-skill job that requires excellent coordination, memory, and multi-tasking skills, so you'd expect it would pay well.

Retail salespeople paid on commission probably make exactly what they deserve. I mean not everywhere, but if you're good you'll get the good job. If you meant register operators, that's not supposed to be your full time job.

Guys who mow lawns would get paid fine if there weren't millions of illegal immigrants in this country working for nothing.

Indeed. In addition, the unions did this to themselves. Rather than demand/settle for a fully funded pension (similar to an endowment) they agreed to basically an IOU from GM, etc. This is one reason why I'd never want to belong to a union. They can be just as good at screwing over the workers as their employers.
