    No, Newtons second law states that rate of change of momentum is directly proportional to force, therefore F = d(mv)/dt = m.dv/dt + v.dm/dt, when the mass is constant, F = m.dv/dt = ma. But we can't use F=ma for a rocket, because the mass of the rocket changes. F=d(mv)/dt is the definition of F.

  6. Re:Einstein's FULL equation on Greatest Equations Ever · · Score: 2, Insightful

    Another way of writing the equation E=mc^2 is to we write what m is. m = m0 / [1 - v^2/c^2] (Where m0 is the rest mass - i.e. the mass of the particle when it is stationary - relativity states that the mass of a particle changes when its velocity increases - f=ma is only a newtonian approximation). Therefore, E = m0 c^2 / [1 - v^2/c^2}

    Yes I think so too, The BBC unlike some other codec providers is putting the project on sourceforge. I also notice that the project is being put together at the R&D department of the BBC whereas the new iMP player (http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/media/story.jsp? story=549713) from the BBC is not. Strange?

    Also the text search function has been disabled for a while, but recently it was enabled for a short period, I thought it was great and quite a lot better than the google search, is it going to be brought back permanently?

    Finally, how do you ensure that the content of articles are not too politically biased or don't totally reflect one side of story or issue other than other people changing or adding to an article when they read it?

    Love the site, keep up the good work.
