As network and firewall systems become more and more sophisticated, do you think that the influx of hackers will fall or rise in repsonse to this new challenge? What about scanners such as NMAP, do you feel that tools such as this will be used increasingly more, as scanning for vunerabilities becomes more and more part of the hackers routine and sometimes the only way to tunnel an attack?
Why is it that a user can only buy Lindows for $119, yet it is much easier and cheaper to buy or download Linux and dual boot it with Windows? It seems that it is much quicker and easier (and so some whould say better) to just dual boot. Also because of the closed nature of the distribution, many are now choosing to pirate Linodws in ways they do with Windows. For example just search around on P2P programs such as Kazaa, several links for Lindows appear? Surely the closed distribution nature is bound to lead to this?
Hard Drives are far too sensitive to vibrations and have too many moving parts, magnetic tape is too prone to magnetic inference and damage, punch cards don't like liquids! Can anybody think of a completely fool proof viable large sclae memory storage system?

Hardly cleaver trying to use the first post as a protest to the war in Iraq!
What else is in SP-1? The best advice is probably to just skip SP-1 and wait for SP-2 (if that doesn't include an extra patch to just stop our computer entirely!)
I agree, forking XFree86 would be wrong, it reminds me so much of the crisis in 1998 and forking of Linux kernel. Putting poeple under pressure doesn't help either, and I agree with 0x0d0a, even if he has been excommunicated from XFree core they can still work together and the world really does need Keith and XFree together, not apart. Keith doesn't have to as open as Xfree want him to be, but they should at least try to be more co-operative.
Because this is/., not a marketing and company strategy report for apple!, 'News for Nerds' could constitute classic iMacs being cut, just as the G4 cube being cut was news! Also, even though apples is not selling these publicly, as the article says they are still producing iMacs and selling them to educational establishments
The UK apple store isn't selling the iMac classics, however if you goto it (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore/) , before the picture loads, the text and hover text says 'iMac clasic', but its a picture of new displays, uncanny!
Also, why is it only three versions of the kernel (i.e. three 2.x.x's) are at fault, how come 2.3.x isn't? The wonders of kernel devlopment! And I think the link has experieced the/. effect!

True full text search will be available either later today or tomorrow.' Truely Bizarre
It is intresting to consider that nobody yet has considered the rise in broadband (especially in the UK) on the rise in internet traffic. Whereas previously the standard 56K (if you where really lucky) restricted internet usage it terms of download speed and bandwidth, broadband has opened it up and now massive files (e.g. whole Linux distriubtions) can be downloaded in less than a day.
What are Pheonix Technologies actauly registered as Pheonix TM or Pheonix Tefhnologies TM? It is quite likely the latter, so why is Pheonix an infrignement of copyright?
somebody actually designed an emulator that ws both fast and worked on a decent desktop PC that emulated (or simulated) the PPC architecture on x86? this would probaly be a much more cost efficient option and also give most mere mortals a chance to experience PPC and run MacOS, without 'buying a Mac' or 'buying an IBM server' or 'building a PowerPC comuter'?!
A dual processor motherboard could be developed that could use both an x86 chip (from somebody like Intel or AMD) and the PowerPC processor. Obviously a completly new operating system would need to be developed, or a large amount of porting would be required to get something like Debian, or Redhat working on it but the advantages of boht processors could be shared.

surley if he puts a patent on it it will be subject to US export laws. This means that under developed and anti-western countries (seen from the US perspective) will fall short of being able to obtain this new software.
Also somebody will craack the encryption eventually, either by Quantum computing methods, very hravy brute force or by some new other means (which as yet to be discovered). However making it open-source will ensure that it is not only tested to the limits, it can also be improved at a quicker and more useful way.

What we need are more games using the C&C method of game cheats - there aren't any, only hints and game bugs (most of which have now been rectified).
Speaking of which, do westwood remove their game cheats before release or do they not have any at all to intensify testing?

Ah, but theoretically, if you were still to use the 2.3 kernel series, you would not face this hole, so what's retarded in that!?
