    Quite. One in five divorces cite Farcebook because one in ten people worldwide (~600 million) use Facebook, which is probably more like one in six/seven in the USA; the chances are very high that if one half of a couple uses FB then so does the other...

    This company has a power control chip which has firmware which you can tailor to the hardware it is attached too. And its available to buy right now.

    The reminds me of the Transmeta Crusoe processor designs, which automatically shifted gears, moving the clock speeds up and down as more or less workload was put through the CPU.

    It seems to me they decided that the user has too much freedom with Maemo and MeeGo, so they instead picked WP7 so the consumer remains a consumer where they can be forced upon, app stores and such.

    I really hope that Nokia continue to work to Marmo/MeeGo in the background as a more long-term proposition. To but all of their Smartphone-shaped eggs in the WP7 basket would be folly, IMHO. Other manufacturers such as Samsung are offering at least two OSes - they are shipping handsets running Android and Bada OS. HTC's handsets will ship with virtually any OS at all. Sony Ericsson have toyed with Windows Mobile, but mostly use Symbian, but I think they are going to go much more with Android now.

    They are great at designing, building and marketing dumbphones. Smartphones, however, they they are certainly heading towards rank incompetence at a rapid pace, especially given how badly they've handled the ownership of Symbian, Meamo and MeeGo.

    There really is no excuse for this at all. We're all entitled to a fair trial and the best legal defense available to us. This signifies that Paypal doesn't support the constitution or the rule of law. Shameful.

    Looks like PayPal have had a missive change of heart and reinstated fully.

    Courage to Resist's PayPal account now says "Your Account Access is Back in Regular Standing. Thank you for taking the steps to return your account to regular standing..." What, you mean complain loudly and publicly about what a bunch of idiots PayPal are on your own website, resulting in multiple other PayPal customers contacting them and signing an online petition to get the account reinstated properly?

    On my server the BIOS battery is dead for the last one or two years... ...Next reboot for that server is probably never going to happen - it will run until it dies and/or is replaced. Most likely destination is the scrap heap. Heck, it only had a handful of reboots in the last 7 years of operation...

    Or you could just replace the battery for the BIOS the next time you have to bring the system down? Then you can reflash the BIOS when it comes back up again and run it on for another 2 or 3 years quite happily...

    I've tried putting tabs on the left/right (yes, I tried both) sides of my browser (i.e., Opera's) window - it just looks hideous, IMHO. My natural inclination is to scan horizontally first, then vertically - probably due to English being my first language. Hmm, I wonder if people from other nations are more comfortable having their tab stacks on LHS/RHS of their browser windows, for languages that are written top to bottom and then horizontally?

    What will really help "real estate" issues for web browsing use would be more manufacturers of monitors and laptops offering more models with screens with a 4:3 ratio, rather than 16:9 ratios...

    I have to agree that the main plus point to Debian is its stability. I'm not using it right now; I've got an Eee PC and am using an Ubuntu/Debian-based distro called Easy Peasy which is aimed very specifically at netbook users. The only times I've managed to crash my Eee was when I simply just pushed the hardware to do too much, too quickly, causing the whole system to grind to a standstill. Mea culpa.
