Tablets are alive and probably replacing a laptop near you

Just because they're manufacturing them doesn't mean we're buying them. Stacks of Tablet PCs will probably be on clearance at a retailer near you.

It seems like they need to find an adhesive that performs better.

Perhaps they should try a design with feet that snap into place instead of relying on adhesive.

You can get PPC linuc boxes from the people who make Yellowdog linux, and there are a couple of other PPC computer makers. Also, Apple has no reason to get into the Linux market, they already hav the best desktop Unix.

Perhaps, but the YDL PowerPC boxes have not yet materialized. Some are starting to doubt if they ever will.

What's the larger discourtesy -- re-broadcasting copyrighted text, or bringing a server to its knees by way of a Slashdotting?

Bandwidth costs money and when people want to drive traffic to their site, few (if any) have a slashdotting in mind. Posting article texts is merely a way to lessen the effect.

Actually, I use Mac-on-Linux pretty frequently. Linux has pretty weak support for HFS+ partitions -- even with the hfstools package. If I ever need to access a HFS+ formatted CD, I fire up MOL, mount my linux Home directory via netatalk, pop in the CD, and copy the needed files.
