It was a fine response, but if you want something less snarky the answer is it doesn't matter. Scientists are interested in learning how to model the world that we can observe. If all that we observer is an illusion, or a computer simulation or whatever it still has rules of behaviour and so the scientists job of figuring out those rules is not effected.
This would change if somehow whatever is outside the simulation could be observed, but until we have reason to believe that is the case it is purely a question for philosophers and theologians to ponder.
Laser TVs will not be as thin as OLEDs, or as light, or as energy efficient, or flexible. I doubt it will trump OLEDs in many areas. I'd much prefer an OLED display on my computer and phone.
Why do you care if the TV technology you buy is on its way to obsolescence? This isn't VHS vs Betamax or HD-DVD vs Blu-ray. As you have found with your obsolete CRT there is no particular advantage in having a popular technology in your display.
Or they keep the original AAC and convert that file to as many different formats as they want as many times as they want with no cumulative loss of data.
I have a 64-bit processor at my disposal but I still am using a 32-bit distro.
I used to have a 64-bit version installed but I ended up forced to mix 32-bit and 64-bit packages since not everything is available in 64-bit still. The end result was just more headaches with no perceivable benefit and so here I am back to my 32-bit kernel. Sometimes less is more.
No, I really think it's about you wanting to be argumentative.
People who want us to say stupid things like USian do however claim that American is too vague and could mean any country in North or South America. The fact that you obviously weren't confused by the use of American shows just how silly that is.
They also ignore the fact that USian is actually more vague than American since there is only one country in the world with "America" in it's name whereas both The United States of America and the United Mexican States could both refer to themselves as The United States.
That is pretty silly calling it football just because it's played on your feet. That means there's also "baseball football", "basketball football", "volleyball football", "tennis football", "bowling football", "handball football", etc...
And then I guess my favorite to play would be "Ultimate footdisc".
All the context you will ever need is that Slashdot is an American website with American editors. That being the case, you can be pretty sure which football is intended.
The government has no business telling us what sets we can and can't buy, if we're willing to pay for it.
Why? What's so special about TVs that regulation of them shouldn't be allowed when it's allowed for so many other things? And if you mean they shouldn't be able to tell us what we can buy and sell in general than does that mean you oppose the abolition of slavery?
If they then sell this technology to other companies similarly interested in both reduced costs and increased fuel economy, the effect will be much more substantial -- and require not a taxpayer penny -- than this silly regulation and the certification process it will surely produce
It seems you are taking a very narrow view of the Wal-Mart fleet improvement. Realistically they are only doing this because they can afford to because of their huge profits, at the taxpayers expense, and because they need the good PR because they are widely disliked for other things they do, also at the taxpayers expense. Stuff like paying low wages without benefits and selling cheap crap from overseas.
Explain how it is cognitive dissonance? I don't think that word means what you think it means. There is nothing at all unusual about disapproving of any one particular action of a President while still approving of the President as a whole.
It works both ways actually, I even approved of a few things Bush has done over the past 8 years. No cognitive dissonance, compartmentalization, or other rationalization techniques were needed. All that is required actually is the ability to think clearly without using personal biases as a crutch.
It's not a ridiculous objective. They obviously aren't aiming for a car that bestows immortality on it's occupants, all they're saying is that they will do everything possible to make driving safe.
As a driver you're objective should be to never get into an accident. That's also an impossible goal as their will always be situations beyond your control, but it's still a good thing to try for.

Yeah, you're right. But is apt-get really the most interesting application that can run?
Just shows Debian booting. What can you do with it?
Tequila never has a worm in it, you're thinking of mezcal.
Peace is plenty useful to. If you disagree I'm sure you're real popular in your neighborhood.
And I'd rather be Gandhi, thank you very much. Stealing shit and raping women is not living the good life.
No, he was making a statement about all the Obama cabinet appointees. A laughably dumb statement Obamas cabinet.
Sony store. You can pick up your $2500 11" OLED TV there. Some cellphones use OLED displays too, or so I've heard.

So yeah, they don't care.

Say I've got a Blu-ray movie and a Blu-ray drive in my Linux box. Please explain how DRM is allowing me to watch the video I payed for.

A US citizen? So would that be a citizen of United States of America or of the United Mexican States?
Please don't be a dumb-ass, American is as unambiguous as anything. If it confuses you I can assure you the problem is not with the word.
What's wrong with that? By the fourth year you're ahead $20. Is that somehow bad to you?

But lower power consumption may offer additional advantages if the lower power usage is due to better overall engineering resulting in less waste.
Either your idea of very bad is different than mine, or the specter of impeachment is a thing of the past as well.

It happens about as frequently as Muslim's trying to blow up our airplanes.
Totally offtopic, but it has to be said. That's cool as shit that your friend toured with GYBE. What's his bands name?
