Then, for good measure, the Windows license forbade the OEMs from shipping with anythingbut Microsoft apps.
When was this? I bought a computer in 1996, and it came with Corel Wordperfect Suite 7. And it worked much more beautifully than my friend's Office 2000 some years later.
Actually, it is acceptable to call it either duck tape OR duct tape. Legend has it (disclaimer: may not be true) that it was originally called Duck Tape, for its amazing water-tightness.
Well, if you didn't have an iPod, you could bring one into a computer store and leave it innocently hooked up to the ethernet port of one of the demo machines (and put a hard drive inside it, of course) and steal office apps.
The problem doesn't end with unlicensed SB-Clone sound cards, either. My sound card (CreativeLabs SoundBlaster PCI128) doesn't like selectable sample rates on DOS games unless I stick it firmly into (low-quality) SoundBlaster Clone mode. Creative Labs doesn't like to support old stuff any more than videogame companies do:/
You know it's strange. On the one hand, I want the GameCube to do well, since it is the best console currently in production (NOTE!! OPINION!! DO NOT TAKE PERSONALLY), yet I also like these numbers. With numbers like these, Nintendo might stop producing the GCN and sell it for $50, so that I could afford one!
MSN Messenger is a downloadable on every Windows prior to XP, AFAIK (I'm not sure about 2k or ME, but I know that it isn't integrated into anything, even if it comes with the OS)
Maybe so, but if your CD hits the laser unit on your discman, it won't die horribly. A microdrive (as with any hard drive) will, i think, be toast if the head touches the platter.
There are mod chips (for the PSX, at least) that are specifically coded to only play imports but not copies. It's quite a neat trick, and I'm not sure how they accomplish it, but I've heard many a story about guys complaining about their modchip "not working" because it was an "imports-only" chip.

You shouldn't put things in your ears, especially those big "standard-size" CD/DVDs.
Now, a GBA cartridge or a Gamecube mini-DVD would fit with less stretching.
All this is moot though, since you prolly wouldn't want your ears looking like Goatse.

I saw "The One" in theaters.. But I know many people who have found it, available for download, online!
I can't say I've ever heard anyone call Rocky V "Rocky 4." Where I come from, V means 5.
The story linked from the article does its own page-widening.
Scarily enough, Spam *does* work. The people in my marketing deparment all have degrees!
Maybe they got it from one of those places where you can get a free college diploma off the internet in just two weeks?
..did the right thing to combat the piracy of their 1994 game, OMF: 2097; They made it freely available from their official website.
In addition to being officially legal-free, it is also a great game, and I suggest you try it! (Oh how their server will not like this)
You could also stick around and look at info on their upcoming game, OMF: Battlegrounds.
I'd buy it! Helloooo ... Electronic Arts? Are you listening?
No, they're not! That's precisely the issue!

Pity the name sucks
That's what I figured, since the cartridge looked like a Tengen one.
Wow, cold fusion is like the daikatana of slashdot.
I have played shinobi for NES. And it clearly said on the title screen that it was copyright by Sega.
Flamebait? I don't see how.. He's suggesting a very reasonable thing that Sega/Nintendo could do.

What's better is how it's 5, Underrated.

MircoBox
This is one time where the Micro in Microsoft really doesn't apply.
