Not quite as it is very profitable to get all the usefull components (avionics, engines, some of the fittings, wiring looms etc. out as many can be reconditioned and resold. The rest is just aluminium that needs to be recycled after removing all the non profitable stuff which can be expensive to do.
They do. If it ends up being sold as halal/kosher is a different matter. It would not surprise me as it is rarely labled as such and is often repackaged in the country that imports it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3006192.stm
"So, the mechanics of US Democracy are fundamentally broken, and there are tons of ways to make it better. The most simple way, although it would have paradoxes of its own, just not as bad, would be to let people cast their one vote either for or against one candidate. That way, the Democrats and Republicans could mutually annihilate one another and then everyone else could get on with some real voting. Still a bit too blind though. Another way is to have everyone rank all the candidates in order of preference, or possibly just the ones they actually care about or at least know about. Once again, that should probably include a want and a do not want pile (that should help stop parties with small but rabid followings but that most of the population despises from getting a chance to win. ie, the nazi party candidate gets negative 60 million votes). There are a lot of systems that have been worked out, many with very few paradoxes (I'm not sure, but I think it may have actually been proven that you can't have a single pass system without paradoxes), that are better than the one the US uses. Partly that's because they've been worked out by very clever people who know what they're doing and how to mathematically vet the system, and partly because _ALL_ other systems of vote-taking are superior to the US system when it comes to accurately measuring the will of the populace."
I agree but the UK system is not much better. And when it comes to voting systems there are many and they all have flaws. Try getting a computer to agree with its self! then wade through the various modes and discover the problems every one has. matfud
Strange you bring that up as it did happen with the Poll tax under Maggie T. What happened...Well after the popultation refused to accept it the government had to back down and revoke the law. No guns involved although there was a fair bit of smacking people around the head involved. Had guns been involved it would have ended up with lots of dead people.
Yes you retard. You are supposed to vote for who you WANT. If you do not then you will never get what you want. Tactical voting is crap produced to persude you to vote for one of the favorites. A vote is never wasted unless you randomly throw it at some person you hate less than another. Choose what you want and vote for the person who best represents them. Think longer than the current term. The policies that are voted in now are not likely to be enacted anyway.
Please read about the various voting systems that have been used or theorised. I think you're idea is better than the current US system but will probably still end up with a 2 party system.
Unless you are on a production line you will, as said above, only need a set of small plastic draws to organise your work. In any one day if you do not have component X you can order it and get on with other bits of the work or go out and replenish your stores. If you really need to track it a note book is usefull (paper one). Write down what you think you will need in the near future. Then order it or go out and buy it (order is cheaper if you can get above a certain cost which depends on the suppliers)).
For IC's go to the manufactures web site as many will send you free samples if you check the correct box. Free delivery, free chips. And when you come up with something cool they will like you for it. Side note: I did have fun once watching the UPS traker for 2 sample chips bounce thier way across the USA (in random directions; sometimes backwards) then across the Atlantic just to arrive with me in a 1' by 1' by 2' box. The two chips were about 5 mm x 5 mm.
Sorry to reply to my self but I should clear that up a bit. We kill off lots of species unintentionaly by our actions. Tastey or got in the way. We know those species. However there are many we don't know and never will because we never got to find them before we killed them all or they became extinct for other reasons.
To be honest though we don't know a huge amount about the species extictions going on until humanity realises that a species exists (deforestation and changing climate). Then it seems we do try to make that species extinct (fishing for example). If they are edible or in the way then they die in vast numbers.
Well said, Humans are renowned for not acting on facts let alone logically. Logic requires correct apriori information which I think the GP was lacking. And most people would bias acts based on logic with personal feelings anyway.
As for facts. well then you get into the whole scientific debate that seems to be going on (evolution/ID). Most facts are not totally provable and never can be; but they are pretty damn close to the observations that exist.
I remember that kind of fun. 3.5" floppy disks for me though and it took an awfull lot of them to get linux on. downloaded in a computer lab using Janet in 1993/1994 I think. Adlib mono audio board (legacy from and earlier computer)However there was a game (space marines or summit) that actually spoke using that card and I always thought it impressive as it is not a digital audio card (just midi)
They take far more than 30 seconds. The last time I went through one was probably 2 years ago at LHR. You got pulled out of the queue at random. It was optional at the time (go through it or get strip searched) It took about 3 mins but at least you got to jump the queue. Unless the technology has improved a lot then it is still going to take far too long to get everybody going through one. Spread your legs and put your feet on the dots. raise your arms and put your hands on the yellow dots. Wait a while. Now turn around and do similar. All after you have removed any belongings from yourself.
Dark matter is an odd thing. It makes most equations work. But not all. To do that you need to also add "dark energy" (why is the universe expanding) and possibly "dark flow" why are some way-of galaxies actually performing oddly.
Only that we are building systems that are designed to build bio systems to do what we can do and what we cannot do. It is in it's infancy but is progressing rapidly.
Most humans who are really good at a task are so because of absorbing decadeds or centuarys of previously learned knowledge. Your point is?
These systems like deepblue occasionally do come up with unexpected moves or changes. You may say they are obvious if you have all the data but that is where advances come from.
I'm not surprised that chess and music have become capable of doing by a computer as both are entirely based on maths. However the music may not give the same kind of feeling as a live band playing. That I likely to do with the fact you are not surrounded by tens to thousands of people hearings and watching the same thing.
In the UK a dissertation is the term used for a taught masters or undergrad final project. Thesis is the term used for the document resulting from a research masters or a PhD
There is a difference between facts and poor information.
Predicing behaviour is alot easier when there are actual facts involved. The US already has a massive shotgun ready. In fact it also has bear traps in the back yard plus landmines, guard dogs and a lot of guys in car with guns ready to drive out and kill people.
Nobody is going to be lobing missiles at the US. There are easier and more anonymous ways to attack.
I still don't really know why the US & UK invaded Iraq or how they made that decision. I just hope that overseas intelligence is better at predicting other countries behaviour then citizans of our own countries can predict ours.
No it was not. So how would a missle defence system help?. I think that the whole MDS is yet again a way to counter the USSR (i.e. trying to solve a problem that really does not exist any more).
I actually have no problems with continuing research into MDS as it will probably be usefull in the future and a lot will be learned.
At the moment it is a solution to a problem the US does not have.

99.0% is a default value given to nations that are a) rich and b) no longer collect stats on literacy levels

And having to do a systems check on your underwear each morning to ensure they are still working.
Hah login check was "starched" and I would not fancy that either.
I don't remember that ringing sound. The video shows that I am wrong though. and I'm going to have to buy the space quest series again :) Damn you

Read the article you referenced. It explains it

Lots of unknowns in astronomy
