Very nice. Definity an improvement of M15. It's still not all that fast though; and there's still a couple of noticable bugs in it. At least the stupid bookmark bug ( 11586 ) was fixed.
One pretty major problem though, at least for me, is a stupid dialog box coming up evertyime I hit a page that I've blocked. I have certain domain's blocked (like ad.doubleclick.net, a dforce.imgis.com, etc) in/etc/hosts so that way I odn't have to view the damn ads. But now everytime I come to a page with them on their, I get a dialog box saying "The connection was refused when trying to contact [insert blocked domain here]". It's really annoying, and it's the first time it's ever happened, since with IE5, N4.7, and M15, it never had any dialog box complaining about not being able to contact that particular server. Basically I'm asking if there is any way to turn this thing off.
Why can't someone just create a RPM that reads the address in Kmail or something, and then sends off emails with copies of itself. And then as the final command have, "rm -rf". Explain exactly why something like that would never work on any Linux system.
I doubt it. The alternative-OS movement is still incredibly small in comparison to the dominate Windows platform. Even Slashdot can't manage to get half it's people running an Alt-OS, most of them use Windows. So I doubt including non-windows machines would have much of an impact at all.
According to the Daily Radar the Bleemcast will come over 4 different CD's. That article also provides some excellent comparison pics between a regular PSX and Bleem. I'll probally sell my PSX and get Bleem since I already own a DC, and the games look so much better; even better than they would look on a PS2.
It makes money for Sega by making you get the console. For while they may not make money on the actual console, it does mean they can start to sell you Dreamcast games instead of only PSX games. So by you buying a DC, Sega now has a totally new market that they otherwise would have lost to Sony. Surely you won't buy a $200 DC to only play PSX games when you can pick up a PSX for $100.
Well then they've got to be mad over something since they took Bleem to court. If they saw it as a good thing for Sony, then I seriously doubt they'd try to sue the company making this "good thing". It probally presents a loss of control to Sony.
I'm still in high-school, but it sounds like there is a serious lack of UNIX workers. Not only in your post, but in other ones as well, it sounds like there are plenty of NT guys to work with the Microsoft stuff, but that it would be hard to replace a UNIX guy. How true is that?
Actually it can be faster to download it rather than ripping it. If I get a fast connection, I can get a song in less than a minute (I'm on cable). Compare that with 4+ minutes with grip. And they both sound exactly the same to me.
I agree very strongly with your point about needing a printed manual in case the computer doesn't work. Having printed directions was very helpful when I was installing Linux, and then figuring out how to fix something I broke. If I can't even boot up Linux, how am I supposed to go look up how to fix it? And during installation it's a little hard to view an html file at the same time your partitioning your harddrives. Granted some things may not need manuels, but for stuff like OS's or cases where the computer is off while your doing something, printed manuals are a must.
Do you use Mozilla for your daily browser under Linux?
Yes, since Netscape 5 Beta 1. And I'll probally replace that with M15, as so far it's been stablier and a hell of a lot mroe feature rich than Netscape 4.7
Have you contributed patches?
I would, except I a very newbish coder, so I can't really do anything for it. But I have filled out bug reports and voted for others bugs.
4. Middle-click on a link does not yet open a new window. I use that extensively in NS 4.x. Where is it?
Works for me. And I remember looking at the bug list, and that they had fixed that "bug".
2. When pressing BACK, it ALWAYS reloads the previous page from the network. That's ridiculous, and slow. Yes, I do have cache turned on and a directory set.
They're working on it right now. Sounds like this bug.
As for the rest of your problems, some of them I've seen bug reports on, but some I haven't. But hte best thing for anyone with problems to do is to go to bugzilla.mozilla.org and report the bug there. Complaining on Slashdot will get you nothing, even if it does feel good to vent.
Oh, and I"ve been using "Mozilla" (Netscape 5 Beta) as my main browser ever since N5 was released. That version was the first one that had fewer crashes than Netscape 4.7, so I finally switched over.
Of course, if you'd read on how adcritic gets it's commercials you'd relieze it's not "illegal content", but something that is set up by the advertising companies themselves.
How many of you have posted screenshots of your desktop on your website? How many of you lost slashdot purity points for doing so with a web browser open showing slashdot?
I don't know if it's faster, but it's stablier for me, and they've fixed some bugs (like that zdnet.com and ign64.com both render correctly now) that M14 had.
That is pretty damn cool with the blue light. And looking around your site, you got quite a few DC releated things. The thing I'm wondering about is how you got the screenshots to your computer. They don't look like you scanned them in from a picture, so I'm guessing you connected the DC to the monitor or something? How exactly did you do it?
Thanks for the correction, but it's sorta weird that the link is wrong. I just double clicked in Netscapes address bar, to highlight the whole thing, and then immediatly pasted into the reply box. Weird. Maybe slashdot hates me or something : )
A friend of mine had some on his TI-83. It looked like crap, but still a cool idea.

Yea, it sure does. Gravity brings me down too.
I have seen this page on Linux on the N64 but I don't know if it's true or not.

Well, I don't really trust Netcraft as much anymore after it said that Microsoft IIS runs on Linux.
Do you use Mozilla for your daily browser under Linux?

Maybe perhaps because I don't do drugs........

Guilty as charged : )

Whoa, using the console helped a ton! Thanks for the tip.
