I don't have the time to watch all these webcams individually. Can't these guys watch all the cameras for me, concurrently, and just show me the most statistically significant pixels?
Mod this guy down. He's passing bogus info (and I suspect he knows he's doing it.) Nobody who reads slashdot is so uneducated as to think the seasons are caused by the disatance the earth is from the sun. Nor that leapyear is related to inconsistencies in the 24 hour day. Our calendar contains a leap year because the time it takes the eath to complete one orbit around the sun isn't an integer number of days. He is posting bogus information and laughing at those who don't catch it (especially the idiots who modded him UP as "Informative"... come on people.)
I went on this same quest several months ago, and I too was completely disheartened by what WinTV had to offer, and the other option you mentioned was pushing a monthly fee (what kind of BS is that?) One you didn't mention was: http://www.cinefx.com/mdp100.htm which I was THIS CLOSE to breaking down and buying, but after spending many many hours researching the currently available products, my logic centers were able to win out over my instant-gratification centers. As much as I don't want to wait, I honestly believe the best advice to those who are close to making the HD leap would be: wait the 6 or 8 months until the big name TV manufactures have competing lines of all-in-one televisions sets that have fully integrated high-def tuners.
Well my legitimate music collection (legit meaning albums PURCHASED, disregarding any CDRs that may have _accidently_ found their way into my collection), currently contains over 11,600 album titles. So it CAN happen. (I'm sure just as much was spent on theft&fire-resistant storage of the collection as on the music itself.)
Has anyone else had the character break apart? I was playing around with some pretty straight forward pushing (~0 degrees by ~+5 degrees, applied to the main trunk)... anyway, this was typically producing scores in the 70k range, but on one push, when our hero hit the bottom step with his neck, the head and neck polygons took a sharp 90 degree turn and flew out of frame FAST, completely unattaching from the body (and each other). The separation lasted for quite a few frames before the body finally settled, at which time the body "jumped" way to the right to join the head and neck. My score for this push was >150k.
As an Archos Jukebox owner, I can say I'm quite happy. More storage, half the price. By the way, if you get one of these it's worth noting that Archos intentionally mislabeled the AC adapter that comes with the unit as a 9V DC output, which should ring 10-11V under no-load conditions. In reality it rings approximately 15-16V, so I assume it needs to supply a steady 12V under load. This is important if you want to buy a DC adapter to power the unit in a car for example.

As long as the tree-hugging hippies don't give
me any shit when I mod the thing.

You struck upon one of my pet peeves.
(One I had long forgotten.)
Your sentence should read:
"six LINEAL feet",
not "linear".

Why do I never have moderator points when I need them... Come on people, this parent is FUNNY.

Good plan, let's all plug up and eliminate that septic ACTUAL human contact all together. Who's with me?
Who here thinks $9.99 is 'TRIPLE' the price of a regular notebook? Where I come from a notebook costs about .19, that's more than 50x the price.
fix your sig. should be "folk'll" not "folkS'll".
How about because there is no atmosphere in which the dust to float around, you non-physics fuck!
Why is it always the most uneducated on the subject of Mac performance that have the most to say on the subject?

This is the greatest thing ever... how could this ever be beaten? I feel so inadequate now.
