I thought that the "worst that can happen" is that the metal could cause hot spots on the cooking chamber walls, possibly warping the door seal and allowing the RF to leak out of the oven?
According to the article, deregulation caused power costs to INCREASE while system stability DECREASED (due to the increased long-distance transmission that was never intended in the original system design).
Bring back the regulation! Out with the greedheads!
And I keep wondering about the people who claim "FM quality" is "bad"...I don't mind it at all.
When am I listening to music? When I'm driving in the car, or when I'm just sitting at home listening to mp3s being broadcast over my home FM radio station.
Right on, dude. The other self-righteous asshats who posted the previous replies are probably employees of DirecTV.
I used to be naive about Slashdot and think all of the commentary was insightful and interesting. As the years go by, however, I am getting sick and tired of the "holier than thou" and "I'm so smart" attitude that some people have.
I agree totally with you're attitude. If the signal is in my house, be it DirecTV or cellular phones, I demand to be well within my rights to demodulate, decode, and view/listen to them.
Those other goodie-goodie-two-shoes are firmly implanted drones with more money than brains.
Sometimes I'm behind the wheel when I would most likely fail a breathalyzer. However, I am much more careful and much better of a driver than many, if not most of the idiots swarming around me on the highways of Chicago.
If I should get into an accident, of no fault of my own, then I would gladly embrace the black box in my car. It would provide some desperately needed evidence that I was not at fault, regardless of the idiot's insurance company/lawyer trying to shift blame to me.
One of the worst scenarios that I am haunted by is getting into a serious accident, through no fault of my own, and being seriously f-ed because I was over the limit.
I actually read the entire article, and it appears as though there was some sort of master power failure, which caused the attitude thrusters to remain stuck in their last commanded position.
Telemetry was lost shortly after takeoff. Post-crash examination of the wreckage revealed a disconnected power supply.
Thankfully, though, their IMU remained useable. As they wrote, it costs more than the rest of the rocket.

It's not a house of cards, it's a house of greed.

I've got no problems with "FM Quality"!
Use a simulator. A simulator will pay for itself in three or four crashes.

Following the pattern, a self-righteous asshole is modded to a +3, and a more observant, non-arrogant reply is a 2...
It's becoming tiring.
Never mind my momentary loss of grammar skills. That is all.

RICO act - Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, not RICOH as in copiers.

Mod this one down -1 Overrated
I find it interesting that you call someone an idiot, but apparently have a hard time spelling words like "separate", "executing" and "pieces".
This was moderated to funny?
A sickening act of cruelty is funny?
Damn...I never thought that this would be my first Slashdot post.
