I mean all that pesky science stuff, who needs it right? Let's turn ISS into Disneyland in space instead. We can run a competition to choose who gets to go up there and dress up as a fucking mouse.
Vista's been decent for the last couple of years. They released some patches soon after its release that really sped it up. Trotting out FUD like that contained in your post doesn't help anyone.
I've used it with all the patches and still had it hang on large transfers over the network. How is it acceptable for an operating system to hang on a simple file transfer? It's not FUD just because YOU don't like it. Get over yourself.
I first saw the word Twilight in the title and was instantly appalled about a Twilight story on/. thankfully initial impressions were wrong.
I made the mistake of watching that utter piece of shit the other day. Why the fuck didn't someone warn me it was just a vampire themed episode of the Gilmore Girls? Weakest vampire film ever. And I'm including kiddy cartoons.
A lot of people realized from the start that Vista was rubbish. Unfortunately MS has been doing a lot of damage to itself of late. Most of their main stream products are a complete pain to use. Genuine advantage has run rife, and hinders legitimate users and pirates alike. The ribbon is an abomination and no amount of marketing or brainwashed hyperbole from idiots parroting the marketing is going to change my mind - yeah I can use it just fine but it eats up a lot of screen real estate and it isn't better - it's childish shit with no advantage. Not to mention dropping support for old formats. Some of us want to be able to read our old documents without resorting to Even in gaming they fucked up then shut down the Flight Simulator franchise, and Xbox 360 has its red ring.
The only things I've seen that aren't bad that have come out of Microsoft lately are some minor photo and file utilities from it's research labs.
Vista being a bloated slow buggy pain in the arse that permeates every part of the user experience just takes the cake though. Windows 7 is going to need to shine big time. So far it's looking better than Vista (but for that matter so is a turd sandwich). They can't afford to get it wrong.
If you've crossed these off your list then you're really missing out
Yeah. Missing out on being treated like a criminal. Do you have any idea how many amazing places there are in the world that don't lie inside U.S. or U.K. borders? Why waste your time and gamble that their systems work right and won't pick you up on some data mismatch. Fuck it. I think I'll check out an Island paradise instead. Or something closer to home and save some money.
If some fucker comes up to me in snow shoes and tries to spam me I just ski the fuck out of there. Retrofit SKI to a nice geeky acronym for some kind of technology to combat this shit and you're good to go.
Please point me to your collection of honest, fact-based blogs without editorial bias and a full-time staff of fact checkers. I'd honestly love to see them.
You first. Full-time fact checkers without an agenda of their own and editors without bias are like Hobbits. Fictional beings. They all get paid from somewhere and there's always pressure not to bite the hand that feeds you.
THIS anecdotal, ranting bile from someone with an admitted blind hatred of the company is modded INSIGHTFUL? Slashdot, you're ridiculous. This is almost as bad as the Fark politics tab.
"Blind" hatred? I gave plenty of good reasons - informed hatred more like.
Guess what? Everyone on the Internet doesn't need to agree with you on everything....and don't hide behind AC with your bil you gimboid fanboi chimp. At least I'm willing to put my name/handle on what I'm saying.
What a wank. Half the people posting think it's insightful but they're being shouted down by Apple fanbois who come back a day later when no one else is reading and mod it down. Slashdot moderation at it's finest.
I admit it. I hate Apple. I hate their philosophy. I hate their restrictions. I hate their closed nature. I hate their smugness. I hate their marketing lies like "it just works" and "think different" (aka like a brainwashed moron).
But lately I was very happy when my hip cool 20-something cousin who goes to clubs and uses MSN and Facebook and Twitter bought an iPhone and was cursing about it almost immediately. If they can't get the young hip crowd with their non-functional difficult to used crippled horseshit maybe there is hope that in the not too distant future the company will just fucking die. All I hear about lately is how Apple is restricting some nice neat feature or use of a device. Fuck them. Die evil turtle neck wearing turkies!!!
Pinocchio and Rumplestilskin are said to be quaking in their boots.
In all honesty if you can't be bothered going through the motion of finding out who this anonymous poster is, what are the chances that there will be any consequences to face if he doesn't abide by the order? This seems like a waste of court time and money. But it doesn't surprise me. We don't have one sane legal system on the planet that isn't steeped in medieval nonsense. Well at least we've gotten over trying donkeys for adultery.
Three cheers for finally serving a court order against that anonymous coward bastard. He's always cluttering up slashdot with horse porn stories, trolling posts and all sorts of objectionable and inflamatory shite. Maybe now the Internet-web-thingie will be easy to use and headache free and we'll only ever have truth posted! Yay!
Don't blame peoples faith on the current lack of interest in science.
If you satisfy your curiosity about the big questions - were did we come from? why are we here? etc. - with faith based arguments that aren't grounded in scientific reality it's going to help you make progress.
It certainly didn't stop the progress of science
I beg to differ. As much as religious organisations have supported science they've also sought to corrupt and curtail science where it wasn't convenient. Galileo's the classic and well known example but there are many many others. Copernicus only published at the end of his life because he feared persecution. Others were murdered for their beliefs....and what about the idiots that want to teach intelligent design - which has no scientific basis - in science class.
Faith is about controlling people and telling them what they must believe in order to fit into a society. It's fundamentally incompatible with the scientific method which requires skepticism and requires you to admit you're wrong and that your model isn't perfect as soon as you have enough corroborated data. You're not allowed to "believe" in any theory that doesn't fit the data based on faith.
I haven't abandoned commercial radio and television. I get what I want out of it. However I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that feels insulted by the blatant manipulation. I'm more likely to make fun of an ad than purchase anything because of it but since advertising works I must be in the minority.
What's worse is I don't really get a choice. Even if I switch of my radio and TV and never log onto the Internet again, I still get a mailbox literally full of catalogs every day. Dead trees galore. All from companies who've eliminated plastic bags supposedly for the sake of the environment. More like for the sake of that 5c per customer you're saving you vile liars!
How could you NOT be interested in knowing where humans came from?
A religious upbringing, a lack of imagination, and a poor understanding of why abstract scientific endevours can be of practical use to mankind all help. That and having your head firmly planted up your posterior.
Wii forces you to update as well through some (first party) games. Mario Kart or Wii Fit for instance won't run if you don't install the updates included on their discs. So if you don't stay up to date, you will lock yourself out of an increasing number of games for the platform.
Just don't buy a Wii. Or any other machine that forces anti-customer upgrades.

And it's a common mistake to confuse responsibility with blame, so I don't blame you for that. If something negatively affects you, it's often your responsibility to fix it, regardless of whether or not it's your fault.
I'm sure walking up to an alcoholic and feeding him that line will magically cure his addiciton. In other words easier said than done. You can place the responsibility on whoever you choose, it doesn't make a difference to the reality of the situation.
For the record, I've been fat twice. I've had to lose ~160 lbs in my life, and that's just what I was counting. I still struggle every day to keep my weight where it is and not go back. I don't hold this anecdote against others, as I'm sure it was easier for me than it is for some.
You're right. It is harder for others. For the record, I've been THIN twice. It took everything I had. The first time I was at school so I could spend 2-3 hours a day on excercise. The second time I had to take a day off work every week. Each time going back to a sane normal diet that didn't involve eating nothing but salad and lean meat/chicken (or fish) in tiny quantities caused me to gain the weight back twice as quickly and add more to boot. I don't enjoy walking around hungry all the time. I don't enjoy having sleep apnea. I don't look forward to diabetes. However frankly I've given up. It was just way too hard and took too much of my life even when I didn't have a family to support.
If only saddam hussein hadn't denied Bush's friend request on facebook...
Sorry but that's just utter BS.
So you're saying a bug in Facebook started the Iraq war?

Food isn't an addiction any more than sex is -- it's a bodily function. And in most cases overeating is a sign of mental illness
Another fucking moron. Having a hunger drive that means you're still hungry after a big meal is not a metal illness you twit. It's a biological problem. Calling fat people mental deficients does nothing to help them or resolve the issues their weight causes for society. It just adds another layer of stupid medi-eval stigma that associates fat with stupid.

How the fuck is this flamebait? and if so why has it spawned a half dozen other comments which agree then get modded +5. Fuck slashdot moderation.
