"Well instead of a guard dog, they had dis bloody great big Bengal Tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son, that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes."

Amazingly, Wayne's World II is relevant! (for about 2 seconds)

I guess that's why I keep annoying people at work. I don't hear much with my right ear as I had a hearing loss on that side years ago.
Maybe that's also why my ex left me. She could never get any favours!

  4. potential privacy concern? on Facebook's Cross-Language Network Library · · Score: 2, Funny

I think this raises a potential privacy concern. Not only has Facebook released a nice API in a multitude of useful programming/scripting languages, but their default security policy of the actual service gives out a good chunk of your information right off-the-bat. For the uninformed Facebook user, this spells trouble. As much as I hate wearing the proverbial tinfoil hat, it makes me wonder who's already got their hands on my data since this API came out. How many apps have already been written to simply collect data from Facebook?

well, the way i see it...if i'm not pedantic - at least to some degree - then someone (like yourself) will complain that I most likely failed english class (which i didn't) or that i'm a 13-year-old script kiddie who doesn't know their way around a computer (which i'm not). likewise, if i _am_ pedantic - again, to some degree - I get comments from people (again, like yourself) that I'm some kind of Mac user (which I am, on occasion) or some kind of general lamer (which i've been known to be, on occasion).

    so, i'm damned if i do, and i'm damned if i don't. i'll take 'damned if i do' for $200, alex. :)

  6. Danger, Will Robinson! on Plugin For Winamp Allows Downloading From iPod · · Score: 1, Offtopic

I used this product for a while last year until one sunny day my iPod refused to show me any playlists. I mounted the iPod as a disk and took a look around...sure enough the music was all still there. iTunes wouldn't see my music, the iPod wouldn't see my music...not even ml_iPod itself would see my music. ml_iPod had corrupted my iPod database.

When I tried to leave forum posts to the creator for support, he was nowhere to be found. I discovered that many other users also shared my hardships. I had to download EphPod and use its recovery features to even get the iPod to show me anything. I then had to further download Anapod Explorer and use its recovery features to recover a bunch of 'lost' music. Since that day, I have vowed to myself to never use the ml_iPod plugin again.

FWIW, I have my doubts that something like this won't happen again. Be cautious people...you're putting your iPod database at risk!

You could always store the Session info along with something a bit pre personal...like the source IP, or maybe have all users authenticate with some login & password?

It does seem, however, that the more one tries to move away from cookies, the more complex the code has to get in order to keep security and whatnot.

  8. What about your trusty DB? on Sweden Crunches Cookies · · Score: 1

Why not simply store session information in some backend database and pass the session ID along on the URL? Problem solved :) Besides...cookies can get messy. Y'know, with all those crumbs laying around (i.e. spyware, ad trackers, etc).

I say kudos to these guys...making something different in music that more than a handful of people (even on the web) appreciate is no easy task. right on :)
