The majority don't want to buy 'good music', they want to affirm some sort of image they associate with. That's why it's boiled down to a handful of cookie-cutter stereotypes: Hardcore Gangsta Rapper(tm), Edgy Club Kid(tm), Hard Rockin Mallcore Punk(tm)
You are so dead-on with this. That's one of the most insightful things I've ever read on here. Seriously.
No, what I want to see is an OS that will take an English (or language of choice) description of an application and construct that application on the fly. If you want a lightweight text editor, it'll create vi or notepad. If you want a full-featured word processor, it'll create Word or Writer. If you want to play an audio file, the audio hardware driver will handle the D/A conversion and playback, but you can fully define the interface - in plain english, not a Winamp/XMMS style skin.
Computers have taken a computer-style interface about as far as it can go, now they need to start working like humans do.
if you're running a WinNT variant, try running RealPlayer as a non-priveliged user that can't modify the system registry. It takes some doing but it's good for any shady program that hacks your registry behind your back.

they may not have the luxury of seeing it as an opportunity for improving their browser. Maybe the Mozilla people needed a large company's adoption of their engine as the sort of industry validation that a bunch of college kids that hate Microsoft can't provide.
problem is that engineers like their jobs. engineers will do their jobs as a hobby if they can't get paid for it. Why shouldn't a business owner exploit that in today's world?
Organizing a union could possibly take away an engineer's opportunity to work/play, so they won't risk it.
Plus, all engineers are elitist fucks that think they're the best in their field and they don't NEED a union.
So will Anne McAffrey make a new novel based on a lowly apprentice who beats the odds and becomes everyone's hero? (Apologies. I just finished the Harper of Pern trilogy)
No, but every other fantasy writer that's published in 2003 will.
This case seems to fall under what they call "promissory estoppel". This is where a contract is entered that will cause grievous harm to the signee if it's not carried out. Microsoft didn't hold up their end of the deal, and Sendo failed. If Sendo can prove that M$ knew this would happen M$ is liable for the bankruptcy and probably whatever back pay the former employees are owned. If they can prove that M$ INTENDED for this to happen they can get punitive damages. I kind of hope this doesn't happen because the board types are the ones who pocket the damage money.
IANAL of course, but I remember this kind of thing from business law in school. If I'm wrong, mod me to -1 so nobody gets misinformed.
the scripts for the shows are probably all written by the Republican National Committee, who is putting this tripe out there to sway more people towards the fundamentalist christian view.
you lost me at the suit. no human being should be forced to wear a suit daily. Note that the qualifier of human being means this does not apply to salespeople and marketeers.

adding auto-hovering capability is a minor exercise, almost every helo with computerized controls has it.
The bad thing about rotary-wings is a) they use proportionally more fuel than a fixed-wing plane because the engine provides 2 vectors of flight instead of just 1 and b) they're slow. A helicopter is limited to the speed at which the blades stall. I don't know what the helo speed record is, but I'm guessing it's not much over 200.

I can't believe some people are taking this seriously. Why is it that people lose thier sense of humor when they're talking about OSes?
Spock! Is! That! You?!?!?
"A joke.. is a story with a humorous climax?"

I want an OS that will write apps for me. Until then I don't think there will be any more than incremental improvements to any software.

One word: spite.
I won't compete with Indians. If someone wants to put me up against an Indian, I don't want to work for them.
I am beginning to develop a violent hatred of all foreigners.
there are other search engines?

I dunno, most guys probably blow nuts as soon as she gets naked, so she may need to pay a professional who can hold out long enough
yeah, but he was still a step above Pete Best. ever hear the Anthology 1 stuff he played on? damn, he sucked.

5. Profit!
You don't have to like something to find it useful.
i.e. I would hate being a dentist, but I know I need to go to one regularly.
I hate cows (grew up on a farm). I love beef. *shrug*
