Just did a quick search on the web. Those Dells use the Intel graphics chipset, pretty typical of Dell. No reason to get crappy Intel video when you can find laptops just as cheap with ATI.

All recently made (or not so recently) laptops with ATI or NVidia display adapters should be able to do it. Even my puny Toshiba w/ Radeon 7000 video that cost me $1200 CAD new can handle dual-head. At work I use a Thinkpad with a 9000 dual head as well.
And this is different from every other business on earth... how? Oh, yeah, some businesses didn't follow the revenue-maximizing model. But they went under.
Actually, I think most businesses seek to maximize profit. ie: It doesn't do you any good to have $10 billion revenue and $20 billion expenditures...
Not more expensive.. I was looking in to this the other day, and a 20GB iPod is $389 CAD (after my edu discount) while the iRiver HP-120 is $439. Yes it's $50 more, BUT I get the remote and carrying case with the device, accessories that cost $45 each at the Apple store. So in fact the iRiver comes out a bit cheaper after the accessories, and even cheaper if you don't have an edu discount.
Somehow I doubt they'd be selling it for $60 if they went through the trouble of designing custom hardware (think.. expensive) to play chess. I bet you it's just an inexpensive ARM processor or something. And like I said, you can get a Palm for slightly more. Also, GBA as the other poster mentioned.
Why buy a device dedicated to playing chess when you can pick up a Palm Zire 21 for just over $70 USD most places and then buy a chess program for a few bucks more? Not only does it have much more features but is also smaller and lighter. Alternatively you can get an even older Palm off of eBay if you want to get one that's really cheap.
I was pretty much set on getting one of these till I read this article and comments. Sounds like they have some serious quality issues. My search for an MP3 player continues... I guess I'll look at some iRiver products or the Archos. Recommendations / experiences with either are welcome.
You mean like ActiveX controls? I can think of many web services that don't work without ActiveX.. particullary some web conference software. However I think most of those are going to eventually have to change and go under. I know we dropped a few at the company I work for because our Unix users couldn't use them in Mozilla. Instead we went with one that had java-based clients
This is ridiculous. How many times do we have to repeat that clock speed is not the only determining factor in a processor's performance and usefulness? Simple, compare AMD, Intel, PowerPC, or even two different series of Intel chips. You'll find there's processors with lower clock speeds that perform better than others. Also what about on chip features? Especially now with SoC designs starting to become prominent in the market. What about power consumption? If Intel went with a plan like you suggest, they'd be doomed for sure.
Except if someone sends you email from some stupid webmail system that puts ^M 's at the end of every line and you are reading in mutt. Thankfully it's easy enough to add a filter in mutt and remove all that junk.
Don't forget Gnucash.. it's been quite useful for my small business. Although the UI is starting to look a bit dated compared to modern Linux desktop apps, and development seems a bit slow as of late.
The company I work for is buying IBM T41's and now T42's (IBM is deprecating T41's). We've purchased several hundred of them, and apart from failed video adapters in the first batch of units they are great. The ones with bad video adapters well all fixed without any questions asked in a short period of time.
I have to agree with most posters, the laptops are very well thought out and designed, and really easy to work on if you ever need to take anything apart.
Not really, just whenever you enter a new area, you can calculate the age of all trees there and then use the appropriate model for the tree. This means just checking one property per tree... As a poster said below, the 15% figure is probably some BS that PM made up to make it sound like he was right on the verge of creating the ultimate game..
Often the reason is that the feature did not make sense. For example, three years ago I talked about trees growing as time past. The team did code this but it took so much processor time (15%) that the feature was not worth leaving in.
I'm no game programmer, but this seems a bit ridiculous... what kind of code were they using for this? Is time passing so fast in this game that you need to be constantly updating the trees?

While we're on anecdotes, I still have a Compaq Deskpro PII workstation that's been running 24/7 for the better part of it's lifetime, and it still has all the original parts (plus some upgrades). Best part is, no fans other than the PSU fan. Just a huge heatsink on the slot processor.
How can you trust it? How can you be certain you did not leave any of the virus behind? Once a machine is comprimised in such a way, it's best just to blow everything away since there's no way to be sure you caught everything.

I don't get it... can someone explain?
Personally I like "Tastes a bit fishy for its high alcohol concentration. Some find it unpleasant". No better marketing then that!
I did mention it's CAD (Candian dollars).

I quit my job. I can make a fortune!
How about a password protected oven lock? Or even biometric / key card

The notifier FAQ says they are working on versions for OSX and Linux.

I believe the Pokemon TV series spawned the games, and not vice versa.

There is too much stupid complaining lately... why not just set the "Funny" mod to be -5 or something if you don't want to read humorous posts?

I don't see the word impossible anywhere...
