One time zone! Unless the government dictates when people sleep, they must have fun keeping track of when the people at the other end of China are in the office!
It's not just that someone critisizes our country. It's HOW they critisize our country. They often act as if the US is the source of all evil and their own countries are pristine and saintly. And then they wonder why we get pissed off at them.
The US becomes a has-been, the EU continues as a has-been, China implodes and becomes a never-was. We end up in a world without a viable "world power".
Of my 3 banks, 2 of them use the standard userid + password. The other one uses account # (harder to guess than a userid that usually matches my name), PIN #, and a random question (Zip code, first n digits of SSN, last n digits). They recently changed it so I now type in the PIN with a mouse to defeat keyloggers.
In the US, such things are new enough and rare enough that people are screaming about it. In China, such things are taken for granted, and nobody bats an eye.
China want to censor anti-government feeling, Whitehouse wants to censor what it doesn't like. It'd censor anti-government feeling if it could get away with it, too.
But the US CAN'T get away with it. China can, and they would like to censor it in OUR country as well.
Suppose the road outside your house was owned by a large man. He had never interfered with your use of the road, but he recently whooped the tar out of someone for questionable reasons. Would you take control of that road away from the large, aggressive man, and give it to a known crook who obstructed the roads he was in charge of?
Nope! If it was, Kerry would be ruining this country instead of Bush. There are some fair sized cities in the middle of the country, and a lot of people who live in small towns and even *gasp* in the country!
and they COMPLETELY ignore the fact that america is less profitable in the global marketplace not because our "stuff" is more expensive due to regulation, its because our *PEOPLE* are more expensive due to our attitudes about class, cost-of-living, minimum-wage, health care, etc.
Yes, we think we should actually get paid enough to live on. That does make it hard to compete with countries that pay pennies per hour.
Mac/Linux email clients also don't automatically run attachments. They don't hide extentions so you think a.exe is a.jpg. And though many people will type in an Admin password, that's still better than not having to type it. I agree that the Mac would get malware if it had 90% market share; no OS can protect against stupidity. But Windows is still far worse on security than those other OSs.
It really depends on how far we're prepared to go. If it was really a question of our survival with nothing to lose, a few neutron bombs would eliminate any sabotuers while leaving the infrastructure.

But if you teach a man to fish, how are you going to sell them your tuna?
I wonder if that happens with old American cars too. If so, I feel sorry for the African who got my Pontiac J(unk)2000!
Of course! An outhouse gets emptied more often than once every 4-8 years.
If you want to nitpick, "fucking idiot" was probably inaccurate. Though many Slashbots are idiots, very few of them do any fucking.

That was the old site, when Clinton was in power.

Yeah, but the government puts its bumpy roads in the boondocks where private business wouldn't bother.
In the US the Telcoms own or have significant control over the government! Damn, when did we become a Soviet Russia joke?

Actually quite a few old geezers died because of the flu shortage. They keeled over while waiting in the vaccine line.

Besides his website, Alex Jones also has a radio show, and he says Bush is a traitor all the time. He hasn't been sent to Gitmo yet.
And how does that differ from the current situation? We're STILL paying for their welfare because they're too dumb to hold a job!
The US should hang on to its position more tightly.
Yes, we think we should actually get paid enough to live on. That does make it hard to compete with countries that pay pennies per hour.
And yet, you still can't name a country that's better.
Show me a copy of this "social contract" with my signature on it.

The real problem is, everyone is sitting on their horses (of whatever height) and nobody is cleaning up after them!
