    Ditto, but the price is a factor too. I MIGHT see it in the bargin theater, and I'm sure I will buy the DVD, but I am NOT going to pay $$ for tickets, $$ for refreshments, and sit through a bunch of crappy commercials.

    AFAIK, the blogger's errors have never started a holy war. Most people realize that a blog is not neccesarily reliable. However, they think that mainstream media is, though after cBS & SnoozeWeek, that may be changing.

    This happens on a regular basis, People that drive happily at the speed limit continue that highway speed through construction zones (did they miss all the orange barrels?) and get pissy about the people that dared to slow down in the construction zone and not drive 70mph 3 feet from the construction workers


    That's one of my personal gripes! There's a stretch of "orange barrel" highway that I hate to drive on. It's safe enough at the posted speed (45 MPH), but the other fools want to go 70+ down one narrow lane (the other lane is closed) with road crews working.

    IIRC, Windows 3.X still had an easy enough install. It did require multiple floppies (I think it took 6), but other than that it was easy. Win95 was when it started to get hairy, but by then MS owned the pre-install market.

    Did Unix ever run on the 8088? When I got my first computer, 286s were for businesses, not home users, and 386s were only used by large, rich businesses.

    If we were in an environment where poor eyesight would kill you, then yes, if glasses hadn't been invented everyone would have perfect eyesight. The flip side is, the population would be smaller because the people with poor eyes would be dead.

    So, while some conservatives might argue against gene therapy (and only a very few would, I can assure you, being one myself), you misunderstand why they would. Mostly, the ones that do are just concerned that we might screw some people up pretty badly doing the early research.


    That's only part of my concern. Suppose they find a way to give someone increased strength, reflexes, senses, and intellegence, but the treatment causes stress on the body that might kill you painfully in 20-30 years? Do you trust the evil, greedy corporations to do the right thing? Or will they use it to increase their short-term profits and screw the fools who start dropping dead after the treatments?

    Minor nitpick: Wolverine's adamantium claws aren't a mutation. His mutation is a healing factor, which allowed him to survive the adamantium implanted in his body.
