To me a "blank value" could be a space or a zero in a numeric field. Both of which are valid values (usually). A null shouldn't be a value, at least IMHO.
I remember one time I was on a residential street. I don't think 25 would have been safe in any case, but that particular time, not only were there more parked cars than usual, but there were a bunch of kids just out of the street. I had a feeling about it, and slowed to maybe 5 MPH, and sure enough a ball shot into the street between the cars, closely followed by one of the kids.
It's true that there are very few 60 foot cliffs near the sidewalks in my area. Or even open manholes. There are, however, telephone/light poles all over the place, and I have seen texters walk right into them. Ouch!
"Also, a reasonable person --- even if texting while walking, is going to look up occassionally, to make sure they still see where they are going."
The word is "reasonable". Many of the walking texters don't qualify.
The way things are going, I expect whichever party wins, the other party will talk about impeaching him/her. Unless Trump wins. Then both parties will talk about impeachment.
My GF's sister could probably pass for her if she let her hair grow and colored it. As it is, when she was around people who know my GF, everyone knew she was R's sister before anyone said anything.
Literally, unless you're Mitt or Donald. Really, I'm just as happy in the Midwest, where I can get a good house for a tiny fraction of the prices on either coast.
Define "fair market value". My GF's family got kicked out on eminent domain, and they tried to give them a piddling amount that would barely buy a shack in the slums. They had to get a lawyer to get a real fair market value, which was 3X what the city initially offered.
No one can displace me from my house. However, if I were renting, my landlord could knock on my door and say, "Hey, Cro, I'm raising your rent to 10K a month! Have a nice day".
This is not the first time either. I waited a couple months to install it last year to give them time to get their sh!t together. I then upgraded and it immediately bricked my computer. I had to use freaking linux to flatten my hard drive and I then reinstalled win 7. I have now turned off the windows update because I'm afraid that it might install without my permission.
This is the most half @ssed way to do things and totally pisses everyone off, even long time Microsoft fans like myself.
A Win 10 update borked the wifi on my desktop. I ended up installing Ubuntu. It didn't brick my W10 laptop, but for awhile it had issues when I put it in sleep. Currently it seems to be working okay except for the spyware, but who knows when an update will break something else.
I also jumped to Linux, but I couldn't properly concentrate on using my computer, as there was so much stuff to manually fix all the time. Thus, I quickly came back to Windows 10. Maybe there's some telemetry, but it's more important to have a computer that works properly.
I switched my desktop to Ubuntu after a W10 upgrade borked my wifi. Nothing to fix, no problems.
Can politicians affect the climate? no, thank goodness
I agree with most of your points, but I'm not sure about this one. Given the amount of both hot air and methane produced, I believe politicians ARE having a significant effect on the climate.
I remember one site that replaced offensive words with asterisks, even if it was part of another word. So I couldn't mention the ra**** in my yard, or say anything about my wris****ch. I couldn't even talk about our VP (**** Cheny)!
The main thing, IMO, is that the PIN is permanent. My ATM PIN was bank-selected, and though I can change it, I've never had any reason to do so. The numbers aren't connected to me, but I remember them just because I've always had them.

I read a book that used a similar loophole. It had a 2 tier society, Serfs and Citizens, and Rule 2 only applied to Citizens. I think Rule 1 too.
Is it researching on Google or doing online puzzles? Or is it posting cat pics on Facebook/Instagram?
OPC, IMO, is fine. But when OPC is on OPS (other persons server), that when you run into trouble.

One of mine got disconnected from the internet after I upgraded to Win10!
These days, it's a fucking reality show.
Considering how much legislation is a puddle of waste, maybe the term "rain in legislation" would be more appropriate.
Yes, but with the current bunch of candidates, after voting I very much need to drink.

And presumably other things too.
I've said that in a total collapse, lead will be more valuable than gold. Gold makes poor bullets.

Hitler made a wreck of Europe, but we were already a very successful country.
Apparently this also applies to going to the bathroom during commercial breaks. If you do that, you're stealing!
What goes around comes around. They spew crap at me, so I spew crap at the same time.
Others have radically different driving cultures - where laws, speed limits signs, and common courtesy are more a 'suggestion' than a requirement.
Those would fit right in around here.
