  1. Bad leadership might be worse than no leadership on People Will Follow a Robot In an Emergency - Even If It's Wrong (gatech.edu) · · Score: 1

While I doubt that I'd follow a robot to "safety", I could see myself following an unknown human in an emergency, particularly if s/he seemed to know what s/he were doing. In the absence of such an "authority", I'd follow my own plan, or if I didn't have one, go with my gut.

  2. That brings up a question. If Hilary is unelectable, Trump is unelectable, and they're running against each other, what happens? Is it like the irresistible force vs the immovable object?

  3. There's no way Obama will let that happen.

Sure, he might be willing to send drones to murder an American citizen who happens to be related to a bad guy, but there's no way he'd allow Hillary to be punished for deliberately subverting the controls on classified data.

Obama could pardon Hilary, but that would probably cost her the election.

Interesting theory about megastructures, but even if it's true, it would only apply to very advanced civilizations. Someone at our level, or even well above, wouldn't be able to create them.

One of the problems with Linux is it seems very much YMMV. I had no problem with Ubuntu when I installed it recently. I have had problems with various distros in the past, including Ubuntu, sometimes when people were claiming it "just worked" for them. I will say, however, that my luck getting stuff working with Debian was worse than any other distro I tried, including Slackware.

I don't believe that's true. I'm pretty sure that even if you ARE working for the authorities, you're under suspicion by our beloved government.

Good point. My iPhone generally knows where I am, but it often doesn't pick the best route to get me where I want to go. I've used it twice, in semi-familiar territory, and both times the route I took was shorter and more straightforward than the route it selected.

Also, though the radio worked the same, it was positioned just different enough that I had to look at it instead of doing it by touch.
