Maybe it should be like a "dead man's switch". If you don't press a button in a certain amount of time, it will send a "Help, I'm being arrested" message.
Agreed. I've never used AVG, but I had few problems with Avast, and none with MSE. Norton, OTOH, is worse than a virus, and I've heard Mcafee isn't much better.
With my current Kindle, that's not a problem; web browsing is crappy enough that few people will bother. It will probably be less crappy on their newer models. 3G would be nice to have, but I can see why Amazon can't offer it on anything where people will actually USE it.
That said, the watch list as is, is worthless. Too many names - particularly without pictures or at least age/gender/description - are worse than not enough.
I don't know about that. Obviously, anyone with a first, last, or middle name of "Hussien" is a security threat and should be on the terror list.
They might as well make it an even month. Call it version yyyymm (201109 for this months version). That way, they not only have their fast updates, but the higher version numbers ever!
You work at crummy companies I guess. The code at the organizations I've been at has been, for the most part, pretty good (Of course with a few crufty corners of crap code that every project has)
Most of the code where I work is okay, but I've certainly encountered code that I called "spaghetti code with meatballs". Some of it was around for years because everyone was afraid to touch it.
Where are the "cloud" servers located? It would suck if you backed to Dropbox, Google Docs, or whatever, and Irene wiped THOSE out, along with your local hardware.
"You have the latest version" lies all the time like a cheap rug.
What do expensive rugs do?
Depends on the version.

When you're stuck in debt and in a low wage dead end job, would you enact full blown austerity measures on yourself, sell your house, your car, get rid of anything that costs money and live in a box? So you could pay pennies on your interest from your 7-11 job? No. You go take out a student loan, you increase your current debt, get a degree, and get a job where your revenues are to a healthy enough point to where your long term debt isn't a problem anymore.
However, in that situation, I would NOT go out and buy an iPad, Macbook Pro, high-end desktop, expensive SUV, and whatever other kewl stuff caught my eye. Yes, debt can be beneficial, but wild mindless spending isn't.

Unfortunately, if you miss your chance to pay your debt in good times (which we did), you may run out of options during the bad times. Having extremely high debt reduces the chances that you'll HAVE good times.
Everyone knows, you can't ever get too much pi.

Steve Job invented many of my kewl toys. Dennis Ritchie invented the tools Steve used to build my kewl toys.
RIP Dennis Ritchie.
I thought they'd call it Pregnant Pussy!
I don't care what the remake said. Rex shot first!
Just to compare to modern carnivores, I think the biggest is the kodiak bear, and it's about ONE ton.
And I wouldn't want to touch a surface that you've touched with a bare foot.

Without the Start Menu, how do I shutdown?
When I find a locally produced Kindle/Ipad/whatever, I'll buy it. Until then I'll buy what exists (as long as my job/money still exists).
As I understand it, the current Kindles will still have 3G - along with a browser so bad nobody will want to use it.

After all the times AV products have flagged Windows system files!

That's a lot of Bing bling.
Well, that doesn't sound good for a FB competitor, but this gave me hope:
"Or for the existing one to become so unusable it is abhorant that even in the absense of competition, few would want to use it."
FB has been heading in that direction, though G+ might get them to turn themselves around.
I got two things from the Greedo shoots first version. One, Han was a fool, and two, Greedo was a crappy shot.
To add x86 support would cost an ARM and a LEG.

If your onsite backups just got blown into a REAL cloud by Irene, you don't have backups either.
